I don't trust the portal rankings by position much, but this is the top 15 OTs from 247 for the curious

Well at least according to this we went after the top guys. World visited, looked good with Fa'amoe until his old coach went to Wake, landed Pritchett, interest in Moore, down to the last two with Pete.

I would think they feel pretty good about Pete or they would have pushed harder for Moore?

Sounds like being close to home was big for Moore according to this article -

New Mexico State OT Shiyazh Pete
USA TODAY NETWORK
Michigan and Nebraska are battling for New Mexico State offensive tackle Shiyazh Pete, sources tell On3’s Steve Wiltfong and I. The multi-year starter in Conference USA visited Nebraska last week, and he’s also made stops at Kentucky and Cockeye State.

With the three-day dead period starting Monday and ending Wednesday, this has turned into a recruitment between Michigan and Nebraska. The veteran played over 1,800 snaps for the Aggies over three seasons with all of them occurring at left tackle.

The 6-foot-8, 320-pound Shiyazh Pete was a 2023 All-Conference USA first-team selection, while in 2024, he didn’t play until Week 8 of the season, starting the Aggies’ final six games at left tackle.

The Huskers lost veteran offensive linemen Bryce Benhart, Micah Mazzccua and Ben Scott to graduation, while Teddy Prochazka, Tyler Knaak and Turner Corcoran had season-ending injuries in 2024. Matt Rhule’s program added Alabama transfer offensive tackle Elijah Pritchett last week, and Nebraska would ideally like to add another transfer tackle.

Michigan has worked to address the offensive line this cycle, adding Ferris State’s Lawrence Hattar and Cal Poly’s Brady Norton. The Wolverines are still battling Florida State and Texas Tech for five-star offensive tackle and Alabama commit Ty Haywood, who is scheduled to visit Ann Arbor this weekend.

Five Michigan offensive linemen have entered the transfer portal: Raheem Anderson, Dom Giudice, Andrew Gentry, Cole Morgan and Tristan Bounds. Left tackle Myles Hinton and left guard Josh Priebe are off to the NFL.

Nakos really missed a Pete joke there.

On3's seems more in-depth than 247

I wonder how fucked up the numbers are with the roster purging. On3 doesn't compare teams, just a teams roster from the season prior.

I think I like On3's better theoretically. How improved is the roster from the year before is a better gauge imo.

I'm curious how they handle a departure from a guy ranked a 3/4 star transfer who initially committed unranked. It would signify a guy developed and then left. Same is true for transfers in.
