And, according to On3, we lost two of the top EDGE players in Princewell and Williams. Transfer portal is wildcard and the rating systems are definitely not a science at this point in time. Yes, we lost a few players that would have made an impact next year. But we have added way more than we lost.

In terms of production I think we gained more than we lost.

It's interesting to add it all together.

Kansas for instance has the 13th ranked transfer class but the 63rd ranked recruiting class. Their recruiting class also sits at 15 signees vs 22 transfers.

My gut tells me transfer recruiting is going to be more and more important moving forward. The likelihood that your top recruits actually stick with your program seems like it's going to continue trending down.

It'll be interesting to have some actual data on retention.

lol - ahhhh.... the ones that don't understand the difference between rankings that take into effect additions AND departures. Then send the rankings that only give the additions as validation. They are the most fun people to have a conversation with.

I do think we've made some good additions, so I think that ranking is warranted when you only look at that with 247. But we have some holes we haven't filled yet that concern me which is what On3 is illustrating.

On3 is so retarded it hurts. According to their dumb ass rankings we are getting docked points because vape god Gilbert’s is technically in the portal for us. We are also getting docked points for the countless WRs and DBs who have never/will never play. It’s way to complicated of an equation for people like Dean to rank incoming/outgoing.

Then they add this. Top 10 at addressing needs.

The reason this one aligns closer to 247 is because it only takes into account additions, which I actually think we did a good job at.

The problem is the one we are ranked 38th on it factors not only additions but ALSO what we lost which is where the issue is. Got a couple positions with some holes still.

I think if people would take their feelings out of it, they would understand On3 and 247 are very similar in the ranking for Nebraska when you only factor in additions. But what we lost is not great.

It's not an end all be all. It's really just comparing the average ranking of departed players to that of incoming players.

Did the roster improve and by how much is what's actually being ranked. Since they don't disclose their formulas it's hard to say one way or another whether these additions/departures are weighted somehow.

The rankings themselves are rushed slop tho. It takes years for them get high school ratings tuned up and still they aren’t very accurate. Transfer portal rankings are just shit thrown at the wall.

I think we lost mostly on the edge. Everybody else was dead weight.

Boerkircher, Dowdell and Gbayor would be nice to have back. What holes are the most glaring IYO outside OL?

I think it takes some discernment on whoever is looking at the rankings. A guy like Nwaneri was a 5-star, highly ranked transfer, 0 production. Still a good pickup.

A guy like Watson-Trent was unranked out of high school, a mid-tier transfer, and a conference POY at his level. Still a good pickup.

Again, is the roster improved, I think so, which is in alignment with what the rankings show. To what extent we have no way of knowing. These rankings are tools that paint a picture not necessarily predictors of the future.

We definitely have holes on the roster and it makes total sense to factor in departures. My bigger point is that like everything at On3 (the RPM “algorithm” that factors in Twitter likes as a source) this ranking system is half baked nonsense that no one should value.

Most concerning holes?
