2024-25 Portal SZN Thread

If you can get a guard it it means you can slide JEJ to center.
I thought about that too. You would think we would have a guard that could take over for Evans if they wanted to make the move. Maybe they don't think they have any ready yet. I think Rocco has always played RG I don't know how hard it is to switch sides or maybe they plan on doing some more shuffling.

Please make this happen.

I feel like getting the 1 OL we need out of the transfer portal each year has become our white whale.
Doesn’t have to be out of the portal either. We miss on all of our top OL, whether out of the portal or HS. Always go after the #1 OT just to lose out on them, and are stuck picking out of the scraps.

Our results under Rhule recruiting OL have been way better than the previous staffs. I don't have many complaints.

I'm not sure we have enough money in this state now to pay for the #1 OT and build the rest of the roster we need.

Yeah it sounded harsh but I didn’t really mean it to be. Rankings wise, they’ve done a pretty good job recruiting HS OL even if we’re in year 3 and haven’t seen any of them play yet. It’s just a little frustrating to me that they go after the #1 OT and put all the time and resources into it when we all know what’s going to happen. Cantwell will be the 3rd straight one that we make the final list and miss out on.

Idk why I just thought of this. But it’s fun to hear Dean explain NIL and Rev Share and what it all means for Nebraska on every single recruit.

In Tunnel Talk last week he talked about how 1890 is picking up the tab for Rev Share money until 7/1.

It’s painfully clear he doesn’t have a clue. Like at all.

I think i get the sentiment but Gottula started at LT most games. That class was pretty solid. Still young.

Yeah when I think of Nebraska recruiting wins among the OL, I don’t think of the 3 star from Lincoln. And if you look at who we were after in the portal it’s clear to me that going into year 3, the coaches don’t really trust him to start.

Rhule’s tried a combination of HS recruiting and portal guys to build the room, but without scoring a perfect ’10’ on one of the transfers in, it’s going to take time. Like you, I really do like most of the offensive line players he’s recruited. Gottula wasn’t supposed to play much this year, but looked pretty good at a tough spot. We’ve got a handful of other Freshman or RSFreshman I suspect will see some time next year, which likely means a bit of an imperfect product again. Keep scoring hits on the HS trail and develop (something that was sorely lacking for years) and we’ll be fine. Land a big transfer in and we’ll be fine sooner.

Very young.

I think the staff will feel better about inserting some of these guys this coming fall, either because they can or they have to.
