2024-25 Portal SZN Thread

Both of these guys would be great. But I have a feeling Michigan could be after these guys. Spindler is a grad student from the Detroit suburbs. Coogan is from the Chicago suburbs. I have no evidence, but it wouldn't surprise me. I'd take either one, but lean toward the center. Just don't think it happens.
Hear you on the Detroit suburbs, but having done the trip a couple times, Chicago to Ann Arbor is not necessarily an easy trip or that much of a difference from going to Lincoln.

I lived in Chicago for 20 years. Michigan is a big draw for Chicago-area kids, probably second only to ND. I drive there all the time - I am about 20 minutes north of Ann Arbor and can be downtown in 4 hours by car. It's a very easy trip

I never ran into much Golden Domer talk in Chicago, but obv really depends on what suburbs you're dealing with. Wisconsin obviously up there too. I have noticed that there is a pretty big difference in willingness for Michigan residents to drive to Chicago compared to the other direction (that could just be a city v. suburbs thing). Obv different motivation when you have a kid involved though. Still don't think the trip from Chicago to Lincoln is that bad if you're already driving a couple hours.

We must have told this dipshit to gtfo.

From Dean O'Callahan:

***Speaking of portal additions, Arizona transfer DB Marquis Groves-Killebrew was in Lincoln for a couple of days. However, it became apparent very quickly he was not going to be a fit. Sometimes, that’s the danger with the transfer portal. You don’t have much time to get to know the prospects during the recruiting process.

Nebraska did not let this one get too far down the road, and both parties went their separate way. Arizona was happy to get him back, as it needed a player to fill the spot he left.

More:

***We continue to hear promising reports about redshirt freshman running back Mekhi Nelson and wide receiver Quinn Clark as guys to watch this spring.

***We expect Jaidyn Doss to move back to wide receiver and Roger Gradeny to move to linebacker.

***Renowned QB trainer Jeff Christensen will be in Lincoln this weekend to attend the Rimington Trophy ceremony on Saturday. This is who Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola works out with a few times a year down in Texas.

I’m told Christensen is expected to get at least one workout with Raiola this week while in town for the Rimmington event.

Dean has been the most reliable source of Nugs for the past month. Didn’t see that coming!

What do you have to do to get sent home in two days? There almost has to be an incident, doesn't there? If a guy shows up and your first impressing is "He's kind of a jerk," I'll bet you give him a bit more time to adjust.

Will definitely be interesting to see what caliber of players become available in the next portal window.
What is interesting to me is this unsourced confirmation that we are indeed looking for these spots (there was a lot of noise suggesting we might be done) comes too late for anyone to enroll in almost any other school for the spring. In other words, if you were a Nebraska player who might strongly consider enrolling at a different school this spring if you had known we were definitely looking for these 3 spots it is pretty much too late now.
