I grew up at the same time and feel the same way. The way I look at it is: at least I got to enjoy it in real time. Not just a dominant NU program, but it truly was the golden era of CFB. It didn't have the playoffs but everything else was better. I also enjoyed the game more prior to the information age. Social media has been a factor in changing the sport in a bad way.I’m so sad about what has happened to college football.
I’m 51 and am finally one of those old guys who remembers it being better in the olden days.
Growing up I never believed the old codgers who complained like that. Turns out they were probably right.
