Hypothetically we could get UNO to run the same playbook and schemes as us. I remember reading how our walk-on program used to work so well with Nebraska kids because most highschools ran the same basic offense as Osbourne's teams. So the players would get here and already know what they were doing to an extent. Sounds smart, not sure how accurate that is.

Oh, it was very true. Nearly all Nebraska high school teams in the ‘80s and ‘90 ran I-formation isos, traps, options, dives, sweeps, just like the Huskers did, with an occasional wishbone team thrown in. Coaches would go to the coaching clinics put on by the Husker staff where they’d copy scheme and drills.

It would be harder to do these days because college schemes and coaches change much more frequently and there is a lot more variation in what colleges do.

We should know fairly quickly after the Cockeye game as well. Anyone leaving won’t be with the team for the bowl game

Probably a lot will go then, bowl practice will be a last tryout to stay on the team or to move along.

Portal window is only the 9th - 28th

First two weeks of bowl practice would be a final audition, then tough talks and many go into the portal before the deadline and the last week of bowl practice is with guys that are staying or finishing up their eligibility.

Jeudy is a great example of why patience with linemen on either side of the ball is key. Two months ago nobody would’ve batted an eye if you said he was gonna leave after this year. Now I’m pretty excited that he’ll be back. He’s not a world beater by any means but he’s been playing his best ball down the stretch - easily the type of guy that could make a jump in the offseason and be key for us next year in the middle of the defense

I agree, he's been a contributor the last half of the season and not just a body.
