2024-25 NCAA Tournament Bracketology/Bubble Watch

Memphis would be last year’s TAMU game 2.0 - incredible athletes strong bigs that would eat us alive on the boards. Do not want this type of matchup but looking at the other possibilities on the 7/8 lines… we are in for a tough game regardless

Can’t play Illinois, Pickle Smoochers or St Marys in the first round since we played them in regular season

UConn…. Don’t even need to explain why that would not go well

Memphis/Louisville - too athletic although I’d rather play Louisville of these two IMO

The ones I’m keeping an eye on… would love to play Kansas. I think we match up decently and they have been straight ass away from Allen Fieldhouse. They’re currently on the 6 line but we could slip to 11 or they could fall to 7 with the remaining 4 weeks of hoops left. Talk about a banger first round matchup.

I don't disagree with any of this really, but at the end of the day you have to be ready and willing to play whoever. We can't really be sitting here saying "we want in!...but not against them." At some point if they're going to get that first tourney win, it's gonna take some nutting up over a tough opponent.

Agreed. Any opponent we get as a 8, 9, or 10 seed is going to be good. There just aren't any gimmies at that seed level.

It’s really all about matchups at that point. And even that doesn’t tell the whole story. Texas A&M was a great matchup for us on paper last year with giving up a lot of 3’s and not being able to shoot, but then they made every 3 anyway. Not to mention we hadn’t seen a team like that all year with just athletes at every position.

Moral of the story, like a poster said earlier, you better be ready to nut up and play anyone around these seed lines. Everyone’s good.

would love to play Kansas

Am I wrong in this mindset, being a 8-11 seed power 5 team we just aren’t going to see a team we match up well with usually. These other power 5 bubble teams are usually pretty athletic minded and that’s who we are going to get matched up with. The kind of team I think we match up great with are these kid major conference champions who have 2-3 really good players but not super athletic and definitely not really deep teams. But as a 7-11 seed bubble team those just aren’t the teams we will ever see in the first round.

They're down this year but they're still pretty damn good. They're also athletic and good (not great) from 3. I'm still holding out hope we win out and make a little run in the B1G tourney and get up to a 7.

Won't happen but a man can dream.
I'm right there with you, best way to finally win a NCAA Tournament game is to get a better seed, chances of winning that first game are a lot better as a 7 seed than 8, 9, 10, or 11.

How does the B1G tournament play into this?

I gotta think 0-1 has us pretty nervous, even if we hit the 2-1 in group 3.

1-1 the tourney record that keeps the calculus intact for this regular season math?
