What's the general consensus on here about Nebraska not taking many kids in the portal this year? Seems like Christmas time with lots of new shiny toys that we all want, but with limited room and Rhule's mentality of building a program from the ground up, developing, and keeping the guys we have on the team, we aren't really going to get any of these guys. Instead we will just watch as other programs get guys they think will be program changers. You can look at this as a glass half full and see Rhule sticking to his methodology and a strong program culture where not many guys want to leave (seen by Rhule's comments that he expects very few players to enter the portal), or half empty that we are kind of stuck with who we have and some of these transfer players could be better than some of the high school recruits we are bringing in to develop.
My general view is this is a positive for Nebraska overall. While we lost to CU, we saw how that whole season crumbled for Deion and how that wasn't really sustainable. It would be nice, though, to get about 5-10 new guys on offense (2 QBs, RB, WR, TE, and maybe a couple OL).
I also realize it is funny to watch what is happening at CU, but it wouldn't surprise me to see them land a number of pretty big time transfers again. Lots of players are leaving their program again (which should be a red flag), but they also have a lot of talent at the skill positions. If you are a quality OL or defensive player, you can walk right in and start there. Will be interesting to follow them again. Just really hope we don't let them come in here next year and embarrass us.
