This is going back a ways, but I saw the original Austin Powers in the theaters. Not a lot of people knew who Elizabeth Hurley was back then (maybe the younger guys don’t know now).

In any event, apparently her ridiculous hotness was a revelation to some because when she first appeared on screen, some guy in the audience gasped in surprise like he had just been punched in the gut. The entire audience burst out laughing.

And I think there was general agreement that he was right.

My wife’s parents live in opelika but ive only been during the summer or thanksgiving/christmas. Went out in downtown Auburn 2 years ago the day before the iron bowl and it was a ghost town, so unfortunately I’ve never gotten the full plains experience. Same thing happens in Lincoln for thanksgiving weekend as well
