I'm going to take this as evidence that Chief was not hitting/dating the hot pole vault chick in @SOHusker11's avitar. Because if he was indeed making six figures and dating perhaps the hottest chick on campus, you don't go to the portal.

I actually replied to Sean’s X post stating exactly this. This was not a major hit. Rhule talked him up to help the guy in the portal. As others have said, he was third string at best.

This is going to become more and more common, unfortunately. People demanding more money, or threatening to hit the portal. I would have preferred he stay, but in this case, you wish the lad well and life goes on.
There were all sorts of players who had family or trainers talking in their ear before NIL, Hell, you see it in high school (not NIL). “You’re getting screwed! They should do this, do that…” it is just going to get worse.
We need to prepare ourselves for this, and uncontrollable tampering.

If this is true, we are doing NIL all wrong. Why would you pay players who can be replaced by anyone? Pay the dudes who are actual difference makers.

It also supports the overpay theory, but I digress because of Rhule handling it.
I'll say this though, at the very least we don't handle these like Colorado fans/media handles it.
Colorado/Denver media ran PR for Deion since he got there saying every single transfer-out "lost his spot" or "wasn't going to play." It's only now after 1.5 seasons that the Denver media got shamed and ridiculed by national fans/media to the point that they're now finally forced to admit certain guys were losses/would have been contributors.
So at the very least, at least our fans have some objectivity. That being said, hard to say a guy is a loss when he made almost no contribution so far.
