Thatā€™s next on my watch list. How is it?

Wrapping up Constellation on Apple TV+ tonight. LOVE IT. Quantum physics nerds will really appreciate it.

Total mindfuck and I would recommend reading a quick article on the basic principles of quantum physics before watching.
I'll have to check out constellation. 3BP was good.

I for one, am getting tired of shows that are set in a foriegn land and have everyone speaking their correct languages, meaning the show is nearly all in subtitles. Shogun is one running currently. Narcos was another one.

When you say this, some people treat you like some uncultured simpleton who instists everything be catered to him. But we know most of these shows are made my Americans for an American audience.

We also know that these shows these days are brilliantly shot and works of visual art that are meant to be seen! They are designed to let our eye wander the screen and take the artistry in. And I am not doing that if I am focused on the bottom of the screen reading dialouge. The shows would be much better enjoyed as they were intended if everyone spoke English, even if you have to sacrifice a smidge of realism.

JMO.

(Note I am not talking about foreign films. A movie made in France by French people should be in French, by all means.)
Really liked the way they did Warrior for that reason. Loved that show, American Peaky Blinders with bad ass Kung Foo. The way they used the Chinese language and transformed into English was great. I knew the characters who spoke Chinese were communicating in their native language but were fluent English speakers. When they spoke to an English speaking white American that same actor would speak in broken English to show that it is not their 1st language.

I finished the season the other day.

Overall, it was better than I expected. Probably give it a 7-8/10.
Knowing that the GoT show runners did this one as well has me equally parts optimistic (that they are adapting a completed story) and pessimistic (because they fucked up the landing on GoT).

Let's be fair.

Even George RR Martin is having trouble finishing his own story. So to expect D & D to do it perfectly is asking a lot.
I'm a little surprised people even attempt reading a series that will never be completed by the original author.

I agree to a certain extent. It was undoubtedly difficult to try to complete the story that, as you point out, GRRM is having trouble completing. The debts they have to pay off are adding up faster then they have the ability to do so.

At the same time, they fuuuuuuucked it up by making insane leaps of logic, dropping any character development, and having characters do things that were counter to the journey they were on (see: Daenerys)

Ultimately, D&D screwed up by insisting on shorter seasons towards the end. HBO was willing to pay for full seasons but D&D refused.

One of the biggest fumbles in history.

Iā€™m convinced GRRM has no idea how to end his series.

I'd be surprised if anyone picked it up today. However, I started reading it in high school, in the early 2000s, and it would have been completely reasonable to assume the series would be over 20 years later. Honestly, I'm not sure if I'd even read the book if a new one came out. I feel the same way about Patrick Rothfuss as well.

Yeah, I feel for you. Tough to get invested in something which the conclusion isn't guaranteed.
