This is a great point. It's really really wild how far off the perception was from the reality. In 2017 he was seen as not only a potential genius at the game of football, but also the spearhead of this new modern youthful college football world that was about to take over.

He was beloved by his players who saw him as a cool as hell older brother, UCF's sideline was famous for goofy stunts, the entire program seemed like they were having a blast all the time, he would speak about CFB issues through a modern/futuristic lens, he had a charismatic star quality, he wore Yeezys, I mean... where the hell did that guy go?

It's still utterly bizarre to me that we go this guy instead:

Truth here…I met a handful of his former UCF players…drank long into the night with them at the UCF/Memphis AAC championship game during Scotts last year there. They LOVED him, the culture, the atmosphere and everything he brought to their time playing there. That was not in doubt. I mean loved the guy.

The only thing I can come up with is the difference in expectations here, the 24/7 visibility a head coach here has, the legend status he instantly received while being here…and he just couldn’t handle that level of microscope. Wasn’t smart/strong enough to turn away from all the bad outside vices made available and wasn’t able to handle the pressure. Plain and simple.

Crazy.

Absolutely. Frost was the anti-O'Leary. UCF already had a lot of NFL-caliber players on that roster, and when Frost came in, the players were immediately drawn to him because his way was so different from O'Leary's. Right place and the right time for Frost.

Yep, exactly this. they called out that and said O’Leary was the worst and loved Scott’s laid back swagger style of coaching.

Side note, the bar sloots there were amazing…I’m sure Scott loved it there for many reasons.

This quote shows an amazing lack of self-awareness. .

"You think the Steelers [with the Immaculate Reception] said, 'We really got lucky and the ball [ticked] off somebody's foot and Franco Harris caught it. We shouldn't have won?' Frost said. "Whatever it takes, you win."

This asshole spent five years complaining about being unlucky, instead of taking responsibility for the record.

I think we have to consider the possibility that, in addition to all of his other flaws as a coach, he is actually, truly dumb.
Yeah, bad luck made him try an onside kick while winning.....
