Turd sounds like he is throwing Frost a lifeline to still resign gracefully if we shit the bed against Wisconsin and Cockeyes. Why else make that comment?

Maybe because it wasn't completely his decision.....just PURE speculation. Turd did about as good of a job as he could given the circumstances he was dealt. Decisions this big aren't made by one or two people. Does that suck, yeah maybe so.

If Frost were to go out with a new staff and win 10 games next year, Turd would look like a genius. If he wins 3, Turd will fire him and hire someone better.

WHEN Frost flops, it won't just be a wasted year. You're completely fucking the next few years up for whoever takes the job next. Crootin is gonna be a shitshow for 2023 & 2024 classes just like the 2022 class was. Better hope the next guy's name is Mel Fucking Tucker if we think we can just use the transfer portal. Sweet Christ almighty.

I was just going to say that the transfer portal does provide more flexibility to any coaching staff. It's not ideal, but it's a reasonable plan B.

If being pleased about the best case scenario playing out for all involved means I’m gloating, so be it.

Keep crying like a little cunt. It’s fun to watch.
You thinking that this is best case means its amazing that you have enough brain capacity for basic motor functions.

Turd comes out the best on this. I agree. Frost will either succeed which is unlikely or hang himself.

Firing him this year, spending 20 million to do it, then trying your best to get a top candidate that will also have a buyout likely in the 8 figure range, was NEVER going to happen.

The AD was never going to be able to raise that type of money when we were having trouble raising money for the new facility and the university was simply never going to just eat what would probably amount to 30 million dollars before you even discuss annual salary and assistant pool for the next guy.
If Frost wasn’t a Husker he would have been fired. You can say what you want about the money but we know you’re full of shit.

Here….

Now, in the scenario that played out today, if Scott fails next year you’ll have a unified fan and booster base that isn’t having to spend 20 million before you even discuss the next guy and his buyout. So your budget for the next guy just got considerably larger.

If you fired Frost you’re looking for a guy that doesn’t have a buyout. Which means you’re not getting anyone with experience.

The idea I’m having to spell it all out for you is pretty ridiculous.

We were never going to spend this level of money to get rid of him and then have to buy out the next guy from his current school.

You can say I’m full of shit all you want to, but if the buyout wasn’t a big deal at all why was it reduced today? If money wasn’t a big deal why even restructure his deal at all?

How do you know we were going to buy out a coach from another school? Do you have Turd’s list?

Why was the buy out reduced today if money didn’t matter?
Because they threw Scott a lifeline because he is a Husker. Do you really believe Mike Riley or Bo Pelini would have been afforded an option of a fifth year with Scott’s record? We all know it wouldn’t have even got to that point. The Husker program has had no issue paying out contracts in the past. Hell we had two ex coaches and an ex AD on the books at the same time.

We barely raised the money to pay for the facility and the money wasn’t going to be there to buy him out. The university simply wasn’t gonna do it.

I know it probably hits you like a ton of bricks, but there isn’t an endless supply of money here and you weren’t going to get this chunk from the boosters.

I know some people are upset today, but the 2 interviewees in this article perfectly demonstrate just how much some Husker fans care about Frost in this situation as opposed to the team/program.

Nobody should be surprised by this. Only thing surprising is the quality of the renegotiated contract.

Turd was brought in to help, support and save Scott. Not fire him year one. Too big to fail. Called that out 4 years ago.

This is best possible outcome. Revamped offensive staff, contractual outcome that benefits the university, and a win or out year upcoming.

So he didn’t get fired. Should he have, probably so…but he didn’t. So kick back and enjoy another year of the shit show.

Worse case we can all say, see told ya so…best case, he fucks up and wins 10 games next year.

You consider our AD chopping a buyout in half in exchange for what could be a final year a clown show?

Turd put himself in a position where he and the university simply can’t lose.

Far from a clown show here. I’d say it’s the exact opposite of that.
I mean... It's tough. UNL and brand new AD clearly weren't prepared to have a nationwide HC search right now. The $20m is a hefty price tag after a COVID year. And AD knows that apparently 60% of the fanbase wants Frost back.

Seems like this was the best possible outcome Alberts could have pulled off. Judging by his actions today though, Alberts made it clear that Frost is getting the knife next yr if he can't deliver.

I think it was good business by Alberts, I really do. And there's that 5% chance that they really are "close" so you leave open that possibility, which would make Turd look like a genius. Again, all in all, about as good an outcome Turd could have gotten given the shitty hand he was holding.

I don't disagree with you at all. But I refuse to turn cartwheels of joy that the program is in the fix it's in. Its the second best possible outcome given the circumstances. Th best possible outcome is that Frost committed sudoku and just went away on his own volition. I know that would never happen in any universe, but that is what would have been the best scenario. And I do find it hard to believe that it was never a topic of discussion at the higher levels. The restructure and firings were the compromise. Frost is down to a small stack and the blinds just went up.

We don’t know if it’s really the best case scenario for the university in the end. It is financial wise with Frost’s contract, but if he has another losing season next year it puts the program further back and makes it tougher for the next coach. Time will tell.
Not that you ever want to actively do damage to your program, but we've seen enough examples of coaches who have walked into "bad situations" and been immediately successful that "setting the program back" is more of a concept that affects bad coaches who won't work out anyways.
