I saw that UK thing and thought it was fake!

This.

This is why I like Minchey and his value for the money. Sorsby would be my #1 but he's TTU and too expensive.

I like Minchey or trying to find the next Trinidad Chambliss/Gronowski type (FCS/DII kid).

There just seems like a lot of Aiden Chiles/Jeff Sims type guys out there. A lot of flaws and you're paying for their P4 "experience"....which let me translate for you: they have experience turning the ball over and losing a fuck ton of P4 games.
I hate to tell you but Sorsby has lost a fuck ton of P4 football games too. Under .500 as a starter through 31 games, and lost his last 4 games. So overrated, some fan base is going to be very disappointed by him.

Those are the top 2 QBs in the portal. Do they want to come here? They want to play for a 7-6 team?

This is GREAT news!

Why do people keep bringing these two up? It doesn't further the discussion.
Well, Leavitt is currently visiting a 5-7 Kentucky team so I would assume so to your bolded?

To your last question part... the reason I brought them up because if you are guaranteeing a starting job (which I don't think we did), you can't grab Minchey. Or we are in football hell if that's how far we've fallen.

I'm not a huge fan of his TBH. If we had him in 2023 we would have went like 12-0. His poor passing vs Nebraska kind of sticks in my memory though. I'm not sure he deserves the high $$$ he's gonna get.

I like Minchey. I think he's the best value for the money. And I think he will be very good for us.

Other than his scrambles, he sure didn't look like anything special against us.

Then again, Maryland's true freshman QB looked pretty solid against us, and they lost their last eight games straight...

Everyone keeps saying Minchey is the best value for the money....how much is he getting? Didn't know we knew that yet

My vote came after I watched all of Minchey’s ND spring ball film. Better competition and could be sacked by touch.

He showed mobility I haven’t seen from Lateef. He showed quick field recognition I haven’t seen from Lateef yet. He flashed Raiola level throws I haven’t seen from Lateef yet.

He also made some questionable throws, same as I have seen with Lateef.

Bottom line, the eyeball test tells me he’s a better QB than Lateef RIGHT NOW.

I believe he was told that “unless you come in here in spring and fall and really shit it up, then you’ll be a starter.” Not a guarantee, but the closest thing you can come to one without scaring him off.

But it will be communicated to the team that it’s an open competition, when it’s probably not, (just like last year with Raiola). Everybody knew he was the starter without the coaches coming out and saying it out loud.

If Lateef would’ve come in and literally beat out Dylan by blowing him out of the water, then he would’ve won the starting job, but we all know that wasn’t happening. So is that a guarantee? In common sense terms it is. But not technically.

If Minchey is coming here then he’s absolutely confident he’s gonna be the starter. That may or may not be the same thing as a guarantee.

Highlights are on YouTube for anyone interested. Angeli was having an ehh year before getting injured at Syracuse fwiw. Wonder if they had Angeli ahead of Minchey before he portaled.

Yeah, I like Sorsby but if it’s true he went for $5m, then I think there are likely better places to spend your money this year.
And to beat the horse a little more, if you get Sorsby and pay him that, he's the only scholarship QB on your roster as Lateef would transfer out bringing in a guaranteed starter for the 2026 and 2027 season.

So you're implying that Lateef would have transferred out right now if Raiola had stayed? Raiola and Minchey have the same remaining eligibility as starters, after all, so it shouldn't really make a difference to Lateef.

Nope, would absolutely stay if Raiola was returning for his third season to start. "Same remaining eligibility" isn't the issue.
