in retrospect bringing Raiola in (you had to ) probably set the program back 1 to 2 years in terms of wanting to do what they wanted to do.Raiola.
We handcuffed the offense and growth for two years to appease a 5 star legacy

I am getting strong Matt Abdelmassih/Bryce McGowens vibes coming out of the backend of this journey.in retrospect bringing Raiola in (you had to ) probably set the program back 1 to 2 years in terms of wanting to do what they wanted to do.
That's probably a fair assessmentI am getting strong Matt Abdelmassih/Bryce McGowens vibes coming out of the backend of this journey.
Rhule made a move to get the "program changer." Bryce wasn't a bad kid, similarly to Dylan not being a bad kid either. But Abdelmassih was poison to the program, trying to control things - just like Dom.
How many people were clamoring for Hoiberg to be canned? He made a mistake that set the program back a bit, but he was also willing to make the changes needed and righted the ship.
This is where Rhule is at right now. Sucks that we "wasted" years with the Raiola's, but 1) no one could blame Rhule for making the decision that he did at the time with Dylan and 2) the program is still in way better shape than it was 4 years ago when he took it over.
Without the burden of Raiola, Rhule can finally build the team his way.

Plus it screwed NU with the 2026 class as they had to take Dayton who brought in no one with him.I am getting strong Matt Abdelmassih/Bryce McGowens vibes coming out of the backend of this journey.

For sure, Jeff Simms was the betterSays fan of a program that started a tight end at QB on multiple occasions.
Was Sins a drop back passer? Because I heard those are a dime a dozen. For sure, Jeff Simms was the better
Option
Yep. Ppl forget TJ came here knowing he was going to be the back up until the 2027 season anywayThat’s a disingenuous label for TJ. He’s not the returning starter. He’s a true freshman backup that filled in for the injured starter, and for the most part, did so rather poorly.
Wholeheartedly disagree if taking him meant passing on the McCord rental. Intentionally going into year 2 with a true freshman instead of an experienced vet, passing on the opportunity to gain some momentum as a program was certainly a choice. Now we’re stuck in a rut and hoping we can land Notre Dame’s backup. He had to go the Raiola route - we all would have
There were very few people saying that at the time.Wholeheartedly disagree if taking him meant passing on the McCord rental. No one was even excited or singing Rhule’s praises when he got Dylan to flip. Unanimously knew it was horrible. No one had hope at the time it happened…Lolololol. Wow. This is hindsight at its finest.
If Rhule would have went with the one year rental over the 5 stat legacy, someone would have set North Stadium on fire. We know now it didn't work out, but 2 years ago no one was thinking that.

Well stated. Rhule talked about wanting to be a physical running team, and then came Raiola. I like Holgerson, but I’m not sure he has that philosophy.I am getting strong Matt Abdelmassih/Bryce McGowens vibes coming out of the backend of this journey.

What??No one was even excited or singing Rhule’s praises when he got Dylan to flip. Unanimously knew it was horrible. No one had hope at the time it happened…
Sarcasm brother.What??
Partially true. Although, the defensive rebuild isn't nearly as bad as many like to think. 2 years ago our defense was pretty salty. Definitely a step back this year with Butler, but Aurich seems to definitely be a big step in the right direction.Raiola didn't really have anything to do with the defensive rebuild we currently find ourselves in, though...
