Playoff Games Thread

How about moving the season up a week as well and not have the National CCG drag into the middle of January.

I’d like to see a reason why fall camp can’t start the last week of July and season start around August 20-23? I don’t see any logistical reason this can’t happen. But maybe there is?

I really don’t want conference championship games to go away, but I understand why they would do that if they do. I just don’t want conference championships decided by metric tie breakers. If we do away with conference championship games we’ll surely see two teams with the exact same record that didn’t play each other and one of them will be gifted a conference championship because they have a higher AP ranking, or better SOS. Subjective bullshit.

In fact, OSU would’ve likely won the B1G this year. Both Indiana and OSU were undefeated but OSU was ranked higher. And we all saw that Indiana won it on the field. They would’ve been robbed of their 1st B1G championship.
Wouldn’t they just do Co-Champs?

Conference championship games didn’t even exist before 1992. Did they use tiebreakers before then or just name co-champs? Honest question, I have no idea.

In the end it would likely come down to each conference’s individual decision. Co-champs blows major chunks too, but it’s better than selecting a champion off of tie breakers.

while we're at it, can we stop playing the national title game on a fucking monday? play it on a saturday night and stop being afraid of the NFL
A Friday would also be better. I've never liked that for basketball either. Give us a Friday or weekend night to enjoy it.

Also… if you don’t expand the playoffs past 16 you won’t have room for at large bids in the tournament. If you split a conference championship you have to give an auto bid to both conference champions. If two P4 conferences split that’s 6 conference champions. How would you even seed that?

We need a class action lawsuit. People’s constitutional rights are being infringed upon. Honest patriots, god fearing Americans want to watch the NC and get blacked out drunk. THIS INJUSTICE WILL NOT STAND!!!

Part of the problem with the calendar is that they insist on keeping the bowl games involved in the playoff.

Waiting around to play the quarterfinal game just so we can call it a cotton bowl is dumb.

Who cares what day it’s played on? Why can’t you play in the cotton bowl, and call it the cotton bowl on say… December 18-20? Makes no sense.

the home playoff games are great. it kind of sucks now that a team earns a top 4 seed and gets rewarded with a neutral site game halfway across the country. and then the fans are expected to travel for the bowl game, the semis and then the NC game

Really should be neutral sites for the 1st games. Top 4 seeds (byes) get the home games and then go back to neutral sites for the final 4 and championship game.

Agreed. It would actually be great if most of the rounds were at home sites.
