The pure fact here guys is we are not going to be better at QB next year than we were this year. Many people seem to forget some of the ridiculous throws Dylan is capable of making.

There are certainly worlds where we get better at every other position which makes the QB’s job easier and we’re a better overall team because of it.

The other fact here is that I would be surprised if we are much of a player for the top end of the QB market this year. The mold appears to be to give us a guy who can make the easy throws, doesn’t turn the ball over, and can extend plays with his feet.

A guy in the Luke Atlmeyer from Illinois mold would suffice.

I don’t know that you’re going to see a write the type of check it’s going to take to get into the top end of the QB market. I think we’re going to spend good money. But that money is going to be in other areas.

It’s like when you break up with a girl - you only remember the good throws she made. You forgot about all the bad throws and sacks that led to the breakup

Almighty AI. What dual threat QB should Nebraska go after ?

🥇 1. Brendan Sorsby (Cincinnati)

  • One of the top dual-threat QBs in the portal with 36 total touchdowns last season — combining strong passing with real run production. Fox News+1
  • Has shown the ability to move the offense and makes plays outside the pocket.
  • Fits a system that needs a true playmaker at QB.
💡 Why Nebraska Should Target Him: Immediate impact player; proven production in a Power Five setting.

🥈 2. Rocco Becht (Cockeye State)

  • Announced he’s entering the portal, and he’s developed into a productive dual threat — 64 career passing TDs with 19 rushing TDs. Black Shoe Diaries
  • Experience as a three-year starter and team captain-type leadership.
💡 Why Nebraska Should Target Him: Proven starter with a balanced attack — good passer who can hurt defenses with his legs too.

🥉 3. Beau Pribula (Missouri)

  • A true dual-threat QB who just entered the portal after a productive season with ~300 rushing yards and six TDs on the ground, plus almost 2,000 passing yards. Rock M Nation
  • Played in Power Five competition and led his team effectively before injury.
💡 Why Nebraska Should Target Him: Versatile weapon in both run and pass; brings experience and mobility.

Honorable Mentions

These might be more long-term or situational targets but still worth watching:

  • DJ Lagway (Florida) — highly recruited and athletic, though ball security was an issue in 2025. Tiger Rag
  • Sam Leavitt (Arizona State) — strong dual threat with good mobility if healthy. (Previously discussed)
Agi never coming if they got Beau at 3

Whos in the portal currently that’s a junior with two years of p4 experience and do you envision us going and getting them?

I’ve seen this movie a thousand times and I know exactly how it ends.

I’ll skip to it all - We end up with a QB that we all squint our eyes and tilt our heads sideways at and say “Yeah, he’s better than the last guy.” We don’t really believe it. We just want to believe it so to us it’s true.

First big ten game we find out we were fucking wrong.

We did the exact same thing this year with the DL all spring, summer, and fall.

This will happen. It always does, you can bookmark this post if you’d like to. But you’re not going to find me all spring, summer, and fall agreeing or telling anyone things that we all know to be false.

The bottom line here is that we need a lot to go right for us that generally doesn’t go right for any program let alone us in order to be an improved team next year.

You’ve seen this movie a thousand times? Portal QBs are a pretty new thing dude.

What should break your brain is our best qb under the Rhule era has been HH.

@…TrueColors… really gheying this thread up. Alas, I’m resigned to the fact we’re going to get someone either shitty or unproven in the portal and it will be the LaQueef show next season and we go 5-7.

Yes, I’ve seen Husker fans tell us over and over that XYZ will be better with zero other evidence to support than other than “We want it to be so; therefore it will be.” It’s an annual tradition as strong as the sell out streak. It will continue and I would currently speculate we will see it the QB spot.

Hyperbole much here with HH? Yikes. Nobody but you believes HH was a better QB than Dylan. That’s probably the most outlandish thing I’ve heard in regard to Husker football in some time. It’s even further out there than when people were saying early in the year that Lateef was better than Dylan.

A guy in the Luke Altmeyer mold wouldn't only suffice, that would be an upgrade. He was a better QB against the same competition, could move around in the pocket, and won 18 games the past two seasons.

So yeah - let's find one of those.

Ditto. Altmeyer was really good. Let’s do that!

Minchey to a T

CJ Carr might be better than Jaxson Dart at the college level

I’ve got a lot of thoughts on the Dylan and Nebraska stuff. Nothing with any juicy nugs by any means.

But the short version is that to me it looked way too much like we were trying to showcase Dylan’s skillset way too much rather than just let Dana call a game and win it.

That being said, if we can find a QB that isn’t necessarily a better fit; but one that we don’t feel like we have to constantly call games in a fashion to appease his wishes there’s a world where we can be better off for it.

It just felt so much like at every turn we were thanking Dylan for being here and rewarding him with whatever he wanted and we forgot that our actual job is to do what is required to win games.

I’m not saying that Dylan didn’t want to win. But the constant eggshells it felt like we were walking on are gone and hopefully both sides are better for it.
