Transfer QB

Of the following potential QBs, which would you prefer...

  • A

  • B

  • C

  • D

I’d take minchey over chiles. Chiles has looked so bad every time I’ve watched him at msu. Minchey is unknown, but I’d rather take my chance there than with someone else’s garbage.

Give me minchey and that old dominion qb, and let’s see who wins the job between those two and tj.

Feels like best case scenario they get 1 portal QB who can compete for if not win the job and 1 portal QB who they never expect to play, like Davila

247 Husker Podcast thinks the biggest priority is to make sure that Lateef isn't just given the job out of the spring. Basically to bring someone in to compete with him and possibly beat him out. I don't hate this. Someone that either A) has produced at a lower level B) someone that was highly rated but just hasn't beaten out the guy in front of them because they are so good.

They haven't given up on Lateef. Should we? He was injured vs Cockeye, I doubt you could argue that he was the biggest problem against Penn State.

If you consider who that could be: Minchey from ND, Joseph from ODU, what if Husan Longstreet decides to transfer because USC's starter is coming back? I'm sure other names that are mentioned in here.

I like this plan. That type of QB won’t cost us 3+ million, but ideally has the upside to be worth that.

Well I should say… I like the idea as long as it works 😏

Perfect scenario in my opinion.

Only one now, January 2nd through the 16th. I think if they only want to do one now it should be after spring practices so both coaches and players know where they stand at that point. Too many things happening in January with the playoffs, bowl games, coaching changes, etc...

Should open after the playoffs end and close before spring practice starts. Transfer players just won’t take classes that spring semester but they will be officially enrolled. I seriously doubt any of these kids care if they lose (delay) 1 semester of credits/classes. And if losing/delaying a semester of credits is a transfer deterrent for some kids…

Thats Good Donald Glover GIF

And get rid of the early/December signing day. 1 signing day at the end of January beginning of February.

I don't know how to fix the calendar but holy fuck do they ever need to

I don’t know if there is a perfect answer. But I think that’s the best solution I’ve heard. Everything happens between the end of the playoff and beginning of spring practice. HS recruits, transfers, coaching changes. Yes there will still be firings and hirings between December 1 and January. But there would be much less pressure to make moves before the early signing day and/or the Jan 6 portal opening.

Under my proposed calendar, teams won’t be totally screwed if another school steals your coach during or after the playoffs end. And teams are waiting to hiring a coach that is playing in the playoffs, they won’t be totally screwed if they have to wait until the playoffs are over.

Only real hurdle I see is schools allowing transfer players to be enrolled for 1 semester without taking classes. And that doesn’t seem like a huge hurdle IMO.

Almighty AI. What dual threat QB should Nebraska go after ?

🥇 1. Brendan Sorsby (Cincinnati)

  • One of the top dual-threat QBs in the portal with 36 total touchdowns last season — combining strong passing with real run production. Fox News+1
  • Has shown the ability to move the offense and makes plays outside the pocket.
  • Fits a system that needs a true playmaker at QB.
💡 Why Nebraska Should Target Him: Immediate impact player; proven production in a Power Five setting.

🥈 2. Rocco Becht (Cockeye State)

  • Announced he’s entering the portal, and he’s developed into a productive dual threat — 64 career passing TDs with 19 rushing TDs. Black Shoe Diaries
  • Experience as a three-year starter and team captain-type leadership.
💡 Why Nebraska Should Target Him: Proven starter with a balanced attack — good passer who can hurt defenses with his legs too.

🥉 3. Beau Pribula (Missouri)

  • A true dual-threat QB who just entered the portal after a productive season with ~300 rushing yards and six TDs on the ground, plus almost 2,000 passing yards. Rock M Nation
  • Played in Power Five competition and led his team effectively before injury.
💡 Why Nebraska Should Target Him: Versatile weapon in both run and pass; brings experience and mobility.

Honorable Mentions

These might be more long-term or situational targets but still worth watching:

  • DJ Lagway (Florida) — highly recruited and athletic, though ball security was an issue in 2025. Tiger Rag
  • Sam Leavitt (Arizona State) — strong dual threat with good mobility if healthy. (Previously discussed)
