It seems like people are missing that the decision to transfer is a two-way street. Even if we could outbid everyone, the QB has to think he has a chance to succeed here if he’s gong to come.

NU fans are all in on Holgorsen, but I’m not sure the rest of the country is. The offense has not been good since he’s been here.

We seem to have decided that Raiola was a big part of the problem. But I think a lot of others are going to conclude that our offense did him no favors and arguably set him back.

We are going to be asking someone to take a chance on us and gamble that Holgorsen can still put together a top offense.

And because we need someone to take a risk, we are going to be in the market for guys where we are taking a risk too.

You can point out all of the flaws in a guy like Chiles, but that’s the kind of guy we are going to be able to get until we show this offense can be something worthwhile. Hopefully we can find the guy who wasn’t meeting his potential in the same way he is going to be hoping that our offense hasn’t been meeting its actual potential.
I’m still a little confused on Rhules decision to retain Holgo, but also seemingly to now be full on ‘run the damn ball guy’

Hmmm. We’ll see how that goes

Chiles gives off serious Jeff Sims vibes to me. Athletic as hell yes, but an absolute horrendous decision maker. Surely that’ll pair well with Dana’s offense. I mean what are we doing
Chiles is a career loser and will continue to lose here. I’d rather have Pribula. He’s 6-2 as a starter and did well against wiscy last season for pedo state when allar went down

Aiden turns the ball over less than Raiola

Whatever expectations you have for the QB position next year, lower them by 80%

It's going to be interesting to see how much Holgorsen has been hamstrung by an OL that has had turnstiles at RT and LT (until Pritchett got a lot better) IF the Geepster is a significant upgrade (I think he probably is) then that will solve a whole bunch of issues with Holgorsen's game plans. Also not having a QB who has carte blanche to change the plays to ones he can't execute at a high level could help a bunch too.

All that to say I agree 100% that we aren't too attractive to the super studs in the portal.

Anything notable in here?

Nebraska's leaving no stone unturned in their portal QB search. Per his representation, Nebraska has been in contact with Saginaw Valley State transfer quarterback Mason McKenzie, a redshirt sophomore with two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Originally from Caledonia (Mich.), McKenzie appeared in three games as a true freshman. In 2024, McKenzie took over as full-time starter and earned Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year honors. In eleven games, he threw for 2,054 yards and 14 touchdowns, to four interceptions, completing over 55% of his pass attempts, along with 117 carries and 662 yards with six scores on the ground. This fall, the redshirt sophomore thew for 2,086 yards and 17 touchdowns, running for another 942 yards and ten touchdowns, he was named the GLIAC Player of the Year for his efforts

Chiles(20games) v Raiola(22 games) the last two seasons.
Michigan state has a worse oline and skill players with him as well. Skill spots a significant decline. Oline slight decline.
At the very worst it’s a push.

Raiola
456/660(69%), 4,819 yards, 7.3 ypc, 31 td, 17 int
96 carries, -152 yards, 0 tds, 55 sacks, 10 fumbles, 4 lost fumbles

Chiles
320/526(60%), 3,807 yards, 7.23 ypc, 23 tds, 14 ints
178 carries, 452 yards, 9 tds, 57 sacks, 11 fumbles, 7 lost fumbles

Chiles was so bad last year that Michigan State benched him and played true Freshman Alessio Milivojevic, honestly if you are taking a QB from MSU take this guy ... personally its a hard pass on either of them. The comparison of Chiles to Sims isn't far off the mark ...

Still above Raiola in QBR
LMAO

The superiority of Husker fans always cracks me up
“No he’s garbage” meanwhile the same people spent blowing a qb worse than him

At this point, I’m thinking either Joseph or Minchey and am starting to lean toward preferring Minchey.
