Omaha Road bad drivers

Omaha drivers a freaking insane, Lincoln drivers are a little too timid if you ask me, almost to the point where they can’t make a decision and will cause accidents that way rather than speeding up or slowing down to merge…… just make a damned decision!!! I live about 1.5 hours north of Lincoln and I have to go through Fremont to get to Lincoln……. GAWD DAMN the drivers in that town are fucking slow….. I’ve taken the route enough times going to college down there and now my wife’s parents still live there, I learned a long time ago you need to get up to and go the speed limit to give yourself the best chance to hit the lights……. ALWAYS some slow fucker wanting to go 25 from Military Ave to Highway 30.

So, after I posted the above post, I decided to see what the internet had to say about traffic and/or bad drivers world wide… My worst experience ever was Mexico City. Second worst was probably NYC. Well, Mexico City is actually ranked 17th world wide in the amount of time (on average) it takes you to travel 6 miles anywhere within the “city limits”. Takes 30 minutes and 47 seconds (on average) to travel 6 with Mexico City. 🤪🔫

To put into perspective how true your statement is (about Omaha and most US cities) there are only 2 American (US) cities in the entire top 200 worst traffic cities world wide. NYC at 25 and Honolulu at 195. Philly comes in at 230. We actually have the best road systems and lowest traffic levels in the entire world. And it’s actually by a pretty wide margin when you consider we are the 3rd largest country population wise. It’s pretty astounding really.

Also, may I never end up in Baranquilla Columbia 😳 If it’s 17 spots worse than Mexico City it must be where bad people go when they die.
Yea, the thing we have going for is in the U.S. is drivers are supposed to be licensed and insured, vehicles are supposed to be registered and have a nominal amount of safety features, with legal repercussions for people causing accidents. Also (generally) well designed traffic control measures. Take any 3rd world shit hole where these aren't enforced and you're in for a bad time, and no U.S. city will measure up. For instance, Manila Philippines. I was in a taxi. We found ourselves on a boulevard with 5 marked lanes per direction at a 3 way intersection. Traffic lights are less than a suggestion and using your horn is the only way to change lanes. Sharing the road: street vendors on foot anywhere traffic slows down, bicycles, mopeds and dirt bikes, motorized and non-motorized tricycles carrying 2-4 passengers, taxis and personal transportation, and WW2 surplus jeeps converted into 30 passenger busses. The "jeepneys" literally stop anytime, anywhere someone wants to get off, no buss stops or buss lanes. People are also walking on this road because the sidewalks are taken up by salmonella stands and gawking sex tourists. You ever been taken off guard by a motorcycle lane splitting at a stoplight here? Surprise, bitch. My taxi driver was lane splitting at speed amongst this throng. The only right of way is whoever toots their horn soonest and doesn't make eye contact with oncoming traffic. They literally use their bumpers as the name intends, and anyone with a personal vehicle that they value has front and rear bumper guards. This was 20 yrs ago but remains stained in my memory and my underpants.
(Denver) What’s amazing is that’s where I grew up and for decades it was the GOOD driver city I used to measure all others against.

The imported a hole level reached maximum density back in the early 2000’s and it was not good.
Tren de Arugula, probably

I was gonna say, you’ve never seen insane drivers until you’ve been to SE Asia, India

My brother told me Lincoln built a bunch of two lane roundabouts but had to convert several of them down to one lane because drivers couldn't figure out how to enter/exit without causing accidents lmao
I don’t know why they put so many in. Such a pain the in ass. Roundabout. 1/4 mile. Another roundabout. Repeat. We drove out of S Lincoln the other day and was ranting about it. My kids asked why. I said the dang gubment and their stupid ideas wasting my money on dumb things. Now everytime we go thru a roundabout. One of my daughters yells. Dang government and their too many turns.

Damn. That Colombian city takes 35 mins on average to go 6 miles. I drove my rental car from Anaheim to LAX a couple weeks ago and took about an hour. In that same Colombian city it would have taken well over 3.5 hours !

Back in college, couple buddies and my roommate and I went down to the bar district, there was a city titty about a block north or two of the bars at the time. We parked near it and started walking to the bar district...probably about 11:00 pm or so. As soon as we get out, we hear a loud BOOM BOOM. What the hell. Look back, some drunk ass was hauling down the street and hit this city titty. Dumbshit popped the seals on both front tires and had a big dent from the 4x4 sign in the middle of the city titty.

This is true. People in Fremont drive slow. I guess people do in most small/medium sized towns, but yeah… Old retired guy in an $85,000 truck gonna drive 5 miles below the speed limit at all times. 24/7 and he’s not gonna even consider speeding up for you, me or for Jesus fucking Christ himself.
