That isn’t going to cut it. Y’all convinced a top level QB to come to Lincoln. Rhule needs to be on the Blazing Inferno Seat. There’s seemingly a lot of seething happening over a class that was never destined to rank higher than 40-50
Having a small class and having a small class full of 3 stars aren’t the same thing. I’m cool with it if the plan is to roll with the young dudes on the roster and dumb major cash in the portal again next year for Raoila’s last year though. There’s seemingly a lot of seething happening over a class that was never destined to rank higher than 40-50
The hope is that winning this season will fix it. It’s the chicken before the egg situation. I don’t think you can wait to win and it is a little disappointing they aren’t taking advantage in the 2026 class of having DR.That isn’t going to cut it. we have a fair amount of momentum with 2027s and 2028s; the #2 QB in the 2027 class is committed. That isn’t going to cut it. Y’all convinced a top level QB to come to Lincoln. Rhule needs to be on the Blazing Inferno Seat.
Will a small 2026 class allow us to save money and go all-in in the tranfer portal after this season so that we can stack the roster in preparation for Dylan’s final season?we have a fair amount of momentum with 2027s and 2028s; the #2 QB in the 2027 class is committed.

2026 is small because we have 90 freshman and sophomore eligibility players on the roster. In that sense the team is young. But they are older in the sense they have been in the system a while. 70 of the 90 are 2nd and 3rd year players. This was by design - the idea is to have a deep & experienced roster for Raiola by his junior year. But although the design was known, people are still grumbling about the class.
What we should see is a small class of mostly 4 star players, and right now it's a very small class of 3 stars. In the final analysis, though, this class isn't very important. 2027 is much more important as that will be the class that replaces a big chunk of the 70 I mentioned. Ideally the 2026 class provides 7-8 guys who are playing a decent amount of time at some point in 2027.
It can't hurt, but I wouldn't expect the same volume of transfers this year as the last couple. There is simply less money under the new system. But I guess that will drive the price down some as well. We'll have a couple of high-cost transfers aging out (Key, Spindler). I also don't see as many positions that will have glaring holes going into 2026 as we have had in previous years. Will a small 2026 class allow us to save money and go all-in in the tranfer portal after this season so that we can stack the roster in preparation for Dylan’s final season?
Spoken like someone who hasn't even looked at this roster. That isn’t going to cut it. Y’all convinced a top level QB to come to Lincoln. Rhule needs to be on the Blazing Inferno Seat.
I think that's only the plan if they don't win this year (8-9 win type season). If they win 6 games I could see them hit the portal harder next year. Right now 2027 and 2028 are setting up nicely, especially if they can start winning. Will a small 2026 class allow us to save money and go all-in in the tranfer portal after this season so that we can stack the roster in preparation for Dylan’s final season?
You pretty much summed up my thoughts here. Good post. I can't help but get a bit more concerned as we miss out on some good players, but they aren't the only good players, Rhule is picky, and there's still a long ways to go.I think there's slight cause for concern with where recruiting is at this point. However, it seems like we are in a similar spot around this same time, most years, regardless of class size and guys who we hadn't even heard about to this point start to emerge and even commit. I think we are also much more focused on our efforts for the right, quality players. Both of the last two staffs signed so many players they had no business signing and it was just to fill out the roster. I don't believe that to be the case any longer.
And at the end of the day, winning fixes everything
