NBA Discussion

Home court has been losing some of it's advantage for about 20 years now. Save for 2020 when it obviously wouldn't matter and a couple of other outlier years, home court is just not as important as it used to be. Still important, but not as much.

Dude it makes NO sense
They won 16 games in April may and June. That’s how they won a title. It’s really not that hard to understand. Tatum is a top 10 player in the league, Brown is top 20, porzingis is a match up nightmare. Jrue one of the most unselfish players in the league and an elite defender, Al is still a serviceable big, Derrick white elite 3&D, Pritchard 6th man of the year this year. Pretty easy to see

They shoot too many 3's. Win by em, lose by em.

But they had the 3 previous years of DEEP playoff runs. 2022 finals (lost), 2023 ECF (lost in 7). 2024 Finals run (won the bling).

Horford is old (still really good for his age for sure). JRue is a good bit beyond his prime now. Porzingis still has a long-running virus issue (since January maybe), and he is injury prone.

They have a very good collection of players. Two elite wings, good bench, lots of good shooters, very good overall defense. But this is year 4 of another playoffs, with the 3 previous years of very deep playoff runs.

I am hearing if they drop this Knicks series, which is looking likely, that they will look to make some roster moves (no idea on their cap situation or moveable players/cap space). Won't be surprising if they flame out like this, and given a couple of their key guys are past their prime, that they look to make some changes.

The Knicks have played some incredible 2nd half of games of ball these last two games, and the Celtics look like a worn down team in year 4 of deep playoff runs with some aging players. It's why repeating is so hard anymore. There is more overall parity (talent) in the league, and we just don't see these repeat (or 3 peat) Bling teams like we did in the past (Lakers, GSW). And home court just isn't quite as important as it used to be (probably because there is more overall talent across teams in the league).

Agreed on all fronts…

And they have still lost by a total of 2 points in 2 games. I think this series goes 7
