Maybe it's just short term pain and we reshore a bunch of manufacturing and textiles factories so Americans can work the lines again and then everything is 20-30% more expensive, which is...uh, apparently good? Have faith brother man!

This is just a historically stupid decision.

No US company will spend billions for domestic capacity that won’t come to production for 2-4 years. This is an EO that the next POTUS will revoke and make factory building a futile gesture. We just get higher prices, more inflation, and trillions of dollars wiped from a strong economy and piss off critical allies.

The economy is global, we have a strong dollar and there are better ways to deal with trade imbalances than putting the gun to your own head.
