Why does everyone hate on Doeren?

Every tater on IN, RSS, 247 acts like Dave Doeren would be the worst hire for DONU. Have they looked at his record? I gotta say, this resume is pretty fuckin impressive.

He has B1G experience too as a DC with Wisconsin. I'm not saying he's my first choice, I'm just wondering why all the taters think he sucks? This is a resume of a very good HC.

He was also a DC for Wisconsin, so he has an idea what the Big is about. I know he is pretty well respected in the coaching community. I would have no issue with him.

He's not my #1 choice either. My point is that I don't think the taters have looked fully into his resume. It's really impressive.

I admit to not having looked at it until very recently. He's won at 2 different places. And NC State is a basketball school... it's very impressive to win 9 games there. Even 8-4 is impressive there. Tere's not many coaches (that are in our wheelhouse) that have a more impressive resume than that.

The biggest downside to Doeren is that he's so fuckin boring. And NU taters have gotten to the point where they like "the circus" more than they like winning. For me, I'm done with the circus and the soap operas, etc. I'm ready for a boring HC.

I don’t think anyone hates him as a candidate. It’s just that nobody loves him as a candidate. To me, he’s the epitome of the “boring” “bland” hire along with Klieman. If it were him I’d be fine with it, but I wouldn’t really be celebrating.

If I remember correctly he usually plays Clemson tough too.

I think there is more upside with Doeren than Klieman myself. I think you would get a better recruiter. I am pretty intrigued with DeBoer. It will be interesting to see if we try to get him if he keeps doing well.

Yeah. I think there is a list of like a dozen coaches that are totally unfuckable. Doeren, Liepold, Klieman, all seem really unlikely to be bad, but they don't seem like they'll ever be great

This thought has crossed my mind as well. The B1G has stepped up their game in the last 7-10 years.

I buy it more for recruiting the types of players you need on the BIG. Wisconsin and Cockeye haven’t changed since then and Minnesota has copied those two programs. Having BIG experience is still a good thing.

Burt Belemia is a good coach but I'm tired of drunks as our coach. Burt was a huge drinker at Wisconsin, so much that they had a car service to drive him around over concerns of him getting a DUI. Same goes for Vodka Tom, don't want party coaches. I want someone who has their priorities straight. Never had to worry about TO, Frank, Callahan, Pelini or Riley putting football first over hobbies. Especially partying.

Here is what I think the biggest hurdle for NU is: too many people have had their hand in things, sabotaged stuff and just plainly worked at undermining coaches and admin. Hopefully we can clean up the whole swamp or find a coach with such a big swinging D that will win and be above it all.
