Seems like the same timing as the te coach that liked to drink last year. Probably a season long promotion from a ga then hire someone

It doesn’t really seem like we have an internal db guy a la Phil Simpson on the dline last year or Josh Martin at TE (unless we’ve got a GA that Rhule thinks the world of). Obviously you can’t get a legit db coach at this point in the year but I’m very curious to see what they do in the interim if Busch says no.

One who isn't making a lot of money and would like to make more money?
This is kinda where I stand.
A good db coach at the power 4 level is making good coin already.
Could get an average guy who thinks his HC might be fired after the season.
A quality G5 db coach has already been hired out this last cycle.
DB coach is high value posistion where good ones often aren’t underpaid.

Tony White's DB coaches at Syracuse -

The market isn't perfect so I suspect you still have DB coaches who are good in G5 and underpaid in P5. Probably not a search they can take your time with but Cooper was one of the highest paid DB coaches in America and probably in the top 5 highest non-coordinator DB coach https://footballscoop.com/news/the-...acks-coaches-in-college-football-2024-edition so they've definitely got money to work with
