Who do you cheat on Nebraska with?

Given the 20 years of pain and frustration, what team have you adopted as your ‘Cheat’ team to follow!?

I’ll admit I’ve been cheating on the Huskers with Ole Miss and Oklahoma over the years.

They haven’t always been the hottest honeys at the party, but they definitely do the nasty stuff and win some big games with me.

What say you?
I actually thought about this yesterday as I was watching UM/OSU.

I enjoy watching Oregon, OU, Washington. Maybe USC. My wife is a Whorn so I have to deal with that. Real hard to cheer for them…

Luckily I have the Montana St Bobcats kicking some ass the last 10 years or so. Been really fun watching a well run program continue even with several coaching changes. We have Yale coming to town next weekend for the 2nd round of FCS playoffs.

Love those small D1 schools like that.

My wife is a U of M Grizzly

We get up to Missoula for a game every year or 2

Best kept secret in all of college football

LSU.

A buddy of mine for nearly 40 years went there and we’ve done the “home and away” thing to each other’s stadiums over the years.

A night game at LSU should be on every CFB fan’s bucket list, IMO.
I go to a college game each year not for Nebraska. Been to Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Ole Miss, even get into the Wazzu, Utah, Syracuse situations.

We got unlucky for our LSU game we had chosen. We thought them playing the Gaytors would be a marquee game in Baton Rouge prior to the season. They both ended up firing their coaches and we got chair back seats for 12 bucks. No one was there.

I love college football stadium atmospheres. When we lived in Atlanta (as newlyweds all those years ago), the Mrs. was working retail management with Target stores, which left my Saturdays free. I'd hop in the car and toodle over to Athens or Tuscaloosa, over even downtown to a Georgia Tech game (they were decent in 91 when I moved there) and grab a single ticket and just wade into the experience. Great times.

Wearing my Husker gear usually got a "what the fuck are you doing here?" question from the locals, and I'd respond "cheering for the Dawgs ... or the Tide ... or the Yellow Jackets" depending on where I was and it generally lead to some free beer and pretty good tailgating. Its far easier invading "neutral territory" than going to away games at places like Boulder, CO or Columbia, MO.

My nephew played at Cockeye State, so they get a rooting interest from me....so I'm generally wallowing in misery all the time.

I graduated from Indiana (South Bend)... I can't bring myself to root for them. Cignetti is a great coach, and also an absolute ass. The fan base is following in his footsteps. Poor fan treatment at the IU game last year clinched it for me. Worst I've experienced. I'd possibly give it a pass if it was just me, but not when my kids are with me.

Literally exactly what we do. Most of us wear our Husker stuff, Cockeye buddy wears that bullshit, and we get invited into every tailgate typically.

I’ve thought about this a few times, but I just can’t get my heart truly invested in another team. Just feels dirty.

I went to Northwest Missouri State for a couple years though. I did enjoy going to those games. They were 32-0 with two natties while I was there. Maybe only one close game the whole time. I will admit that was pretty fun. Just not quite the same as it would be if NU could do it though.

Since I'm on the West Coast, I root for every WC B10 team against the traditional B10 schools. I've always hated the B10 (even since we've joined) and am all for ruining their stuffy, boring party.
I can relate to this post. Ever since covid I've hated the B1G. My attitude towards the B1G is thanks for all the money, but fuck you and your holier than thou members. Then last year (don't remember which game) USC had a controversial call go against them that cost them the game. USC fans were on Twitter saying what the hell was that? And there were alot of Nebraska fans responding saying welcome to the B1G. Ever since then I've felt this is Nebraska and USC:

This is also why I love Cignetti. He came into this conference with his attitude. "Google me" and he's just beating everyone's ass in this stupid conference.

Well, hope both those things continue going forward despite Midwest and couple of the posters. 👊
Midwest doesn't bother me. Idc what he says. He's an Cockeye fan that bailed on them when he realized they'd never win a NC. Him defending Cockeye makes me laugh.
