Tried to explain to my wife last night. She glazed over in 30 seconds.
I'd say somewhere between LOTR and GOT. More fantasy/magic than GOT but more geared towards adults than LOTR. Gore, nudity etc.

The source of magic is divided into 2 halves - one used by women, one by men. Hundreds of years ago, the male half became tainted and caused the most powerful magic user ever (The Dragon) to nearly destroy the world. Now women are the only ones allowed to use magic and have an almost-religious order for those that have the ability.
That order believes the Dragon has been reborn (maybe a man, maybe a woman), and one if its members sets out to a small town to find this person to harness their power for the looming battle of good and evil.
