I watched "the leftovers" on HBO for the first season and loved it in 2014. I finally had a chance to watch seasons 2-3, and it was awesome. 28 hours of thinking about how people would freak out if 2% of the population suddenly vanished, then in last 10 minutes understanding that it was a split in the timeline.

The timeline in the show is that of a world where 2% of the population suddenly vanished into somewhere. In the alternative timeline, which somehow also exists, 98% vanish to somewhere. The thing that "really happened" was that 2% left one, but were the only ones left behind in the alternate timeline.

At any rate, I'm looking for any recommendations for other shows to watch that are similarly imagining how society would respond if something supernatural or cosmological suddenly fucked up our known system. Sorry for too many words risking TLDR.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks. Already consumed. It was pretty damn good!

Holden was a slightly flawed badass.
Currently meandering through Season 1 right now. I love the realistic science/physics aspect of the show. It makes it much more grounded than most other sci-fi shows.

I also need to watch Dark. I loved 1899 and have heard that Dark is just as good if not better.

Dark is really good. Probably better to watch in the native language with subtitles

That’s what I’ve heard as well. I’m started Dark with the voiced dubbed over and I was so disappointed I stopped.

However after watching 1899 and how they handled the subtitle issue it makes me want to give it another try.

Yep the quality of the voiceover acting is terrible.

I’m not familiar with 1899, but will be checking it out after the mentions itt.

White Lotus is terrific (season 2 just ended last night). It is not really apocryphal on a grand societal level, but it sort of is for the wealthy of society.
Wasn't expecting the death at the end. I hope they keep that series going. It's kind of like how Fargo reinvents itself each season.

They do a great job with the story lines and characters.

Season 2 and 3 of The Leftovers are legendary. Episode "International Assassin" in season 2 is probably a top 5 episode all time for me.
