What Ohio State is Saying about Raiola?

  • Day loses #1 overall recruit Raiola
  • WTF is going on with this program!?
  • Guess he's looking for more NIL money like Ewers .....next man up.....
  • Either that or he watched that game against scUM and saw that Dolt is a fraud.
  • I wonder what his Dad does for a living.
  • Retired from the Detroit lions.....
  • Played at Nebraska, uncle coaches there.
  • And revered at Nebby. Ruhle kept his uncle on staff, too. Be interesting to see where he ends up.
  • I hope that he ends up at Nebraska. You need emotion to play this game. Revenge is helpful in that aspect.
  • I just can't see it.....why go to a lousy team who is rebuilding when you can go to any sec school and make $$$. He can start at Georgia his freshman year and be on a good team. I believe Georgia was his #2 school?
  • As far as I know Nebraska has offered his Brother assuming they have no shot at Dylan.
  • I feel he is heading to the Huskers. If he isn't mobile I don't want him anyway. Tired of slow QB's who can't run or won't run, take a hit or pressure. CJ doesn't have that killer instinct at all. It's just whatever.
  • QB and WR recruiting will always be elite with the current staff. So what Raiola decommitted?! He's not a sure thing. He's only a pocket passer. He doesn't run. He's already 225 lbs so he may get too big for the position.
  • Sounds like the OSU staff was as surprised as ever else.
  • You know he's being offered bags of cash by other schools. This NIL situaton is getting ridiculous. Needs to be addressed. NIL is turning into a boon for the SEC. They're not afraid to be brave.
  • Ohio State is effing this up. We want to set a standard that we'll only pay people once they show results on the field (that's how it should be done) but the SEC, Pac 12, Big 12 and the ACC are paying the kids right out of high school. Kids are signing with the highest bidder.
  • College football is OVER as we know it.
  • Can you imagine the new NCAA football game lol NIL is like free agency with no rules. It’s going to take everything we love about the college game away.
  • I said this a while back and more recently, kids no longer have desires to play at their “favorite” college or team, it’s now sadly just about the money.
  • Good luck to Dylan. Don't need another statue back there again. Dual threat has become a necessity.
  • Turns out his father did take. Coaching job at Nebby. Next man up!
  • Also i he goes to Nebraska, the B1G just got a huge QB pickup AND has two new coaches that are really good.

Is anyone really believing the narrative that Dylan had nothing to do with Donovan being retained. Not saying its the only reason but I can't accept the idea that it wasn't a consideration. How could it not be?
Rhule knows a stud qb can change a program especially after dealing with the garbage qbs he had in the NFL. I think keeping his uncle has a lot to do with Dylan. Rhule also knows he has coaches on staff who can help with the offensive line.

I hate reading into his signing day presser for hidden clues, but it was interesting how he mentioned he had PJ Walker from freshman year on and Charlie Brewer from freshman year on as his QBs at his last 2 college jobs

Hopefully Sims-Thompson can fill the void for the first year and get us to a bowl. Even a 6 win year will be huge momentum for recruiting to help build around Raiola assuming he is N.

I’m pretty sure Brewer was 2nd string. Maybe 3rd. But injuries and poor play got him into the game around week 4 or so. I think that’ll be the same thing we try here. Sims opens year as QB1.

It may have been A reason. But not a huge one.

I hope you’re right about us bowling…

There is zero reason that 6 wins shouldn’t happen as has been the case with every coaching staff at Nebraska; full stop.

Winning 6 isn’t a huge accomplishment. You can lose 6 Big Ten games and get to that mark.

I agree, but Rhule’s track record the first year hasn’t been great. I don’t take anything for granted with Nebraska anymore.

The situation here is much different than either Baylor or Temple. There is zero reason this program should go backwards
I get that but like I said I’m not taking anything for granted. I don’t hold first years against any coach when you’re overhauling both sides of the ball and you have to get buy in with players you didn’t recruit.

Let’s be honest, Ohio state fans are clueless and I’m sure that Dylan would rather father follow his fathers foot steps and be an all American at Nebraska then goto Ohio State and maybe never play, similar to what happened to Joe Burrow.

Plus with their fans going full Nebraska and calling for Day to be fired for losing to Michigan 2 years in a row, it doesn’t sound like a stable situation there in Ohio.
I’d love for those spoiled fucks to completely go down the shitter for awhile. They probably have more taters per capita than we do and that’s truly impressive.

I wish I had that kind of attitude, but man if I was them all I would think is fuck this guy and fuck whatever team he goes to. I just don't have the hive mentality of rooting for the Big 10 just because its the Big 10.
I know that’s my attitude when a boy decommits or leaves. It’s the only way us geriatrics can handle losing a boy that once loved the Huskers/Me

I think keeping Donovan Raiola had at least something to do with people at NU knowing Dylan was starting to lean to flipping to the Huskers. Maybe 5 or 10% of it.

But I also think Rhule explained well why he kept Donovan. Donavan has the same O Line coaching scheme/ideas that Rhule likes, Donovan was trained by an O Line guy Rhule likes (and I think a person who may have influenced Rhule into how he likes O line to play), plus apparently ALL of the current O Line players love Donovan. Plus Rhule said he got a vibe that he and Raiola were on the same wavelength.

After watching the various videos posted today of the interviews with the new assistant coaches, Donovan came of by far the least charismatic. His speaking style is not great. But that doesn't mean he is or will be a bad O Line position coach.

I still think the fact that his nephew is the top rated QB recruit next cycle had a little bit to do with Raiola being kept on. It certainly didn't hurt.
