Has anyone watched Minnesota extensively? Looking at their stats they are ranked 103rd in rushing yards. I just assumed they were a good running team, but that doesn't appear to be the case. If they arent a good running team, Im not as conflicted about the game.

I am struggling to see how marylands pass rush doesn’t take us behind the dumpster at Arby’s
They’re going to get some sacks - hopefully limit them to 3 or 4. Need to burn them with our huge advantage at WR

Minny blows. Easy win for NU. Maryland will be the tough out

FWIW, I went with Minnesota. We match up really well with Maryland, I think our defense will actually look really good against them. But Minnesota after flying home from Maryland, then having to travel there on a short week Friday game, and our track record against them recently could pose problems for us.

I will say that if we lose to Maryland we WILL NOT lose to Minnesota. We will go 1-1 these next 2. Rhule is a really good coach and we won't lose both.
Analytically that Nebraska defense vs Maryland offense looks like a mismatch.

I don’t think about the history with Minnesota. Rhule and essentially this whole team have not experienced it besides Rhules first game. I thought he faired well against Minnesota considering it was Jeff Sims…..
Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if we went another route year 1 at QB. Or someone other than Satterfield for that matter.

I picked Minnesota as a loss at the beginning of the season. Not because they are a good team. Solely due to the short travel turnaround
That's exactly where I'm at and why I had us losing preseason as well. People were telling me it's not a big deal, but last year not a single B1G team that played an away Friday game also played an away Saturday game the week prior. They had the luxury of no travel the game before. Kind of wild what they did to us, and it's the same this year. For some reason, The B1G has us with our first away game against Maryland and then our second away game at Minnesota on a short week. This year here are the conference games prior to a short week:

Cockeye @ Rutgers - Cockeye coming off home game against UMass
Rutgers @ Washington - Rutgers coming off a bye
Nebraska @ Minnesota - Huskers coming off away game at Maryland
Northwestern @ USC - Northwestern coming off a bye
Minnesota @ Oregon - Minnesota coming off a bye
Cockeye @ Nebraska - Cockeye coming off home game against Sparty
Indiana @ Purdue - Indiana coming off a bye

I really scratch my head at what happened to us. For a Minnesota team that isn't great, they get to catch us on a short week with a ton of travel.

I think everybody is making too big of a deal about the "travel" back from Maryland and then playing Minnesota on Friday. They're going to fly out around 8 pm Maryland time, and with the time change will get back to Lincoln by 11 pm local time.

Their Sunday will be normal. And the practice time will be the same as Minnesota the rest of the week. And then its only a 1 hour flight to Minnesota.
Their Sunday won't be normal, it's a condensed week by an entire day. And they have to add another travel day in there on the short week.

And I have never understood people that talk about the timezone change as a reason for travel maybe not being that big of a deal. Does the human body check the wall clock before deciding when to release melatonin or make you tired? Need to make sure our players have the firmware update to toggle their clocks backwards to let them know even though it feels like a long day, just set your clock back an hour because it's a different timezone kid.

Ya I actually think our defense is going to look really good against Maryland.
I agree.... I am thinking about taking Maryland under 20.5 points

Maryland put 20 points vs Washington and Washington's defense isn't good.....98th in quality drive rate and 117 in points per quality drive. Nebraska is 20th in quality drive rate and 59th in point per quality drive(fucking big plays).

And I appreciate the "time change" argument but I don't think our players come with an hourly toggle like clocks do to just say "I know it feels like a long day, but the time change is telling you otherwise."

By "normal," I mean its a normal Sunday following a Saturday Road Trip. Flying to DC is only a 1 hour longer flight than from Ohio State or Michigan. Hell its actually an HOUR shorter than the flight out to Rutgers.

I think Minnesota game is scarier than Maryland because its a road game under the lights. But if Nebraska loses that game, it won't be due to the travel schedule. Its a silly excuse.

Ya, I guess for me, any away game is longer than watching Raiola walk to his condo in the railyard. And then having to be ready to go to fly out on Thursday instead of Friday, it just shortens things in my opinion.

If we come out healthy, less of a big deal to your point. But if it's a sloppy game with a ton of physicality or Raiola is sacked 5 times, it worries me on a short week.

Maryland actually worries me the most. Do we take this game for granted and find ourselves behind early…and then struggling?

I do believe we win both games, but one will be ugly in the vein of Michigan State. To me that game is Maryland.

…and RSS, er tPB has another irrational PTSD breakdown even though we won.

To be completely honest, I will be shocked if Raiola is NOT sacked at least 5 times vs. Maryland. I think Sidney Stewart might be an All-American caliber player right now. BTW, check out his high School film when he was basically playing the equivalent of Nebraska Class C-1 competition:

Unfortunate prediction in my head.......we somehow win this game, James Franklin is done and there's serious concern about Rhule headed to Penn State.
