On the surface, this is likely because Alvano has been injured & they don't want him having to wind up for the long kicks. Hopefully it serves a dual purposes of getting his confidence back with a bunch of makeable short FGs, so his mind is right with the pressure kicks.

Looked back over his recruiting profile. Had a Huskers offer, had an SC offer with Satt there, Ted Gilmore was his lead recruiter from MSU. Definitely plenty of contacts with people that'd facilitate discussions with NU, whether he was being contacted after he left LSU, or was reaching out to people who had recruited him previously.
