USA v Canada hockey - Thursday night - 7pm CT - ESPN

There only one way to get me to care about hockey.

And this is it.

That's the way i feel about basketball and the Olympics.

I’m that way with hockey and the Winter Olympics. It’s about the only legit sport in the winter. I don’t really care for “sports” where winners are picked based on opinion. And bobsled just isn’t that interesting to watch.

I watch an average of zero minutes of hockey in non-Olympic years. But I will set my alarm to watch Team USA play during the Olympics.

If the USA is playing anyone in anything. I’m watching and cheering like it’s life and death.

Yeah I love hockey anything hockey but I also understand that it's not for everyone. But like basketball you either love it or hate it.

I don't hate hockey, I just don't enjoy watching it on TV. Games are a blast to go to though.

I really like basketball for the most part. Love playing hoops, and if the games are good enough (NBA and college) enjoy watching them on TV. Basketball (NBA and college) are a blast to go to in person IMO. There are a lot more basketball games in an NBA season for instance - so the urgency is not quite the same game to game as other sports with shorter seasons. Baseball - loved playing it, used to like watching it on TV, but for years now it mostly bores me to tears watching MLB on TV. Post season is a bit different, but mostly not until the world series do I watch much MLB. Pacing of games makes a difference I feel in a lot of this. Plus one can catch a lot with the highlights, even though I rarely watch ESPN or similar for highlights on anything anymore.

I don't agree on either "love or hate" either one of hockey or basketball, but I get why some feel that way. No desire to watch hockey on TV unless it is the US teams in the olympics. Have been to a few lower level (lincoln stars level) hockey games in person - absolute blast.

I realize each to their own tastes, but it doesn't have to be love or hate IMO.

Oh I'd definitely give NBA a try live. But I played basketball all my life. I can watch college on TV but watch NBA on TV makes me wanna kill myself.

So are we going to play Candada again in the final of this four nations thing?

Would reeeeeealy suck if we lost to them in the 'ship after talking all this smack.

We play Sweden tonight

Then we play in the championship game later this week

Winner of Canada Finland will play us, unless they go to overtime, in which case we will play Sweden again, at least that’s how I think it’s supposed to work

OK, dumb, non-hockey fanatic question here:

The other day when they started the game with three fights and everyone went to the penalty box... does that mean the rest of the team is out there playing 2-on-2 until the penalties are over?
I was not watching yet at this point of the game.
