I think there is something getting lost in all of our nit-picking, micro criticisms and out right questioning......
This team is undefeated and in 3 games has conceded only one goal, which was a penalty. They've taken points from every match. They've out played each opponent for long stretches of each match. I don't think any of us were expecting that going into this tournament with such a young team. There is also the fact that it has been 8 years since we danced on this stage meaning not a single player on the roster had world cup experience. Hell, a bunch of them were, at most, academy players 8 years ago. They will most likely finish as the most successful of the CONCACAF teams. Canada performed like most countries that haven't qualified for 30+ years. Mexico is nothing but a disappointment who at this point need a small miracle just to get the chance to be stomped by France in the next round. Costa Rica had a nice bounce back to defeat Japan but might give Germany as many goals as they gave Spain. All of them would trade places with the US if they could in a heartbeat.
No matter what happens Saturday, this has been a successful tournament.
