I added Ochaun and Devin. By my estimate that puts us at 84 scholarships. Doesn't look like we have any room for additions when you consider that K Bleekrode will arrive in the summer. That puts us at 85. Surely someone will depart during the summer, right?

My candidates for further attrition are RB Stepp and OLB Wright for medical reasons. DL Tagaloa since the position coach that recruited him bounced. Also wouldn't be surprised if a DB, WR and OL were processed since we are still setting up visits for possible transfers in. We just have to be at 85 by the end of summer, right?

The roster churn looks insane to me since our JRs and SRs are mostly transfers in. The Big 10 is a league that requires you to use older and more mature players. But maybe the roster turnover us what we needed anyway because so many of our older guys were probably used to losing. Gotta change the mojo and have guys that feel like winners. Adrian got so good at losing that his post game press conferences were superb displays on how to discuss a loss. He had sooooooo much practice at it.

I assume they'll ask Devin Drew to slide down and play a 3 or 4 tech some. I bet they'd like to get 1 or 2 more DL/DE

i also thought that mathis could go DE or OLB, too.
I think you'll see Mathis, Nelson and Tannor out there on 3rd and long.

Honestly Nebraska is a big shade/nose guard away from me feeling a lot better about the defense. And I feel ok about the defense right now because I think the back 7 is going to be fine.

my concern with the b1g being what it is - stopping the run. gotta be effective stopping the run with the front 4 and not have to stack 8 in the box to do it or wisc and Cockeye will kill us over the top with play action.

No doubt. Need another body inside to protect those LBs. I don't know if you can expect guys like Weaver and Black to carry that load as RS FR. They are hopefully good enough to be rotation guys but need one more for that rotation realistically.

A rotation of Hutchmacher, Weaver, Black and probably Drew is probably not going to be very good vs a team like Cockeye or Wisconsin. Just really really young. If you can find one more body like the kid from Alabama then you have a decent rotation where Black and or Weaver can do a little more learning.

The kid from Florida that is visiting in 10 days is more along the lines of Weaver and Black I believe when it comes to his development.

Was surprising to see that Nebraska didn't have anyone go into the Portal the last few days considering that to transfer now the player will have to sit for a year, graduate transfer or get a waiver. You would think that there is some more attrition somewhere because like you have said they should be at 85 scholarships right now but we know that they are at least bring in the Alabama DB transfer for a visit so they must have at least one spot available. So that would leave like you have said that either someone is going on a medical scholarship, grad transferring or leaving football altogether for at least that one spot.

Chins, Applewhite and a few of the players are following this guy and he followed most of them back. He also retweeted a couple of the players and has been liking Nebraska stuff.
