This is accurate from what I've understood for a few years. This is when the buzz started that the B1G told Nebraska to start winning in football and figure out how to regain entry into the AAU. Apparently Dr. Gold has the cache and respect to potentially pull it off.

Gold is worth his weight in diamonds not gold. Really great leader and scientist.

Yes, UNMC is part of the University of Nebraska system (like UNK and UNO are). What he means is they are merging UNMC and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. It is UNL that is trying to get back into the AAU, not the whole NU system, so the MC needs to be affiliated with Lincoln to do so.
