I actually think they're less of an issue now in the Power 2, FOX/CBS/NBC/Peacock days. FOX execs do not care about your schools research dollars.Academic rankings are meaningful (and I wish NU's were better) but it's absurd when they come into account when assembling geographic teams for hut hut.
Unless you are the Ivy League this should be a non-issue.
You're probably right overall, but the B1G is full of old stodgy academic snobs...it's more "image" than anything.I actually think they're less of an issue now in the Power 2, FOX/CBS/NBC/Peacock days. FOX execs do not care about your schools research dollars.
I actually think this is the UNL admin using this as a cudgel to get some of his academic initiatives supported. He's intentionally playing up the "Big Ten could move on from us" thing. Which is basically a lie.
I mean MAYBE there's some sort of effort in the B1G admins to get some schools to up their (academic) game. But they just let in Oregon, and they're dead last in several of the key academic categories so I kind of doubt that. If this was a big deal they wouldn't have let Oregon in. Oregon's worse than NU in almost every key academic factor that they supposedly value: research dollars, admission rate, test scores. Their endowment is lower than ours too.
True. You're probably right overall, but the B1G is full of old stodgy academic snobs...it's more "image" than anything.
Why does anyone care about AAU? Blows me awayNU seeks to protect academic, athletic future in Big Ten, pledging closer UNL-UNMC ties • Nebraska Examiner
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln took a significant step Monday toward securing its academic and athletic future in the Big Ten Conference.nebraskaexaminer.com
The University of Nebraska system announced that the National Science Foundation has agreed to let UNL and the University of Nebraska Medical Center combine their annual federal research funding when responding to the foundation’s annual survey of national colleges and universities.
Securing this change addresses a key issue that the Association of American Universities cited in 2011 when it took the unprecedented step of kicking out UNL. Cockeye State University resigned from the AAU in 2022 to avoid a similar fate.
I get it, but why would anyone care about an Environmental Social Governance (ESG) score? Yet some do. Hell, Wells Fargo's ESG disclosure was like 180 pages IIRC. Who reads this garbage? Why does anyone care about AAU? Blows me away
Nobody should care about ESG eitherI get it, but why would anyone care about an Environmental Social Governance (ESG) score? Yet some do. Hell, Wells Fargo's ESG disclosure was like 180 pages IIRC. Who reads this garbage?
I think he ate Unmc
Hmm... I get that it could potentially get Nebraska kicked out of the B1G but the future of college football will include the SEC. Vandy, Mizzou, Texas, & TAMU are the only AAU members in the SEC I'm aware of.I don't know if anyone saw this from TOS, but it looks like the BIG is warning Nebraska regarding AAU status.

The BIG 10 commissioner told Nebraska this week they needed to belong to be in the BIG 10 long term. That is a good reason to get thier shit together. Why does anyone care about AAU? Blows me away
