An awful lot of accusations about date rape drugs in there too.

Talk about a bunch of 4th century barbarians. Only people back in uncivilized times when arriving on a boat, murdering and raping the whole village was common would conduct themselves in this fashion.

Shit like this doesn’t happen amongst civilized people. This will be one instance where cancel culture is applied and I will enjoy

Only freshmen to my knowledge are required unless signed off. Fraternities were the same when I was there. Freshmen and sophomore and up officers had to live on campus.

pay extra to do something I wouldn't want to do (I assume a frat costs much more than an apartment somewhere else in Lincoln?)


I mean everybody can do what they want, I just personally would kill myself if I had to live on campus as a sophomore or older. Especially if it was costing me more money to do so.

FIJI has been a frat full of shit heads for a long time now. this is disgusting.

also, don't get the rest of the hate in this thread on frats in general. shit was real fun. too much fun for me, as i was kicked out after a semester after our fraternity got put on probation for partying too hard and general dumbassery (they were on probation when i joined...coincidentally, for a big fight with fiji). still had a great group of friends and it helped with parties where there were always a ton of girls.

never witnessed anything close to this incident and the people i knew had good morals and nobody treated women inappropriately. but the heavy drinking and stupid shit definitely gets escalated when a large group of 18-20 year old dudes live in a house together.

there are a handful of frats on campus that let any shithead kid in to get their dues money and they breed a culture that shouldn't be tolerated. but there a lot more down there that are full of good people and their biggest crimes are excessive drinking and harmless shenanigans....that tons of college kids do...it just gets amplified due to the affiliation with an organization that many people have a bad perception of. lets not pretend that Abel hall is full of a bunch of choir members. the party or fight just doesn't make the news.

(also, i do some really good dudes that were in FIJI and im sure they are just as disgusted with this incident so it's not like everyone from that house are animals)

I'll second what @Juro has said....I was in a fraternity at UNL, had the time of my life. It's not for everyone. I'm still heavily involved from the alumni side of things, but the select few like Fiji give the rest of the Greek system a bad name and everyone gets lumped in with the shit bags they are, and have a history of being at UNL.

Yeah, I lived in a house on campus with like 16 guys, mostly also on the baseball team. Having that living situation, and it being one of the only houses on campus where parties were allowed, basically made it similar to being in a frat. The good part was that we didn't have to try to do any of the bullshit stuff that frats do in order to make ourselves seem like good people, and there was an actual foundation for being friends with each other rather than having friendship tryouts.

Good. The Fiji release that they're cooperating with the UNL police on the investigation was totally negated with the video of Fiji laughing at the protesters in front of their house. Fuck them.
