I know this is off topic, but it is in relation to your starting at the top comment. Frost was a legend around here before becoming head coach, correct? Do you think the fanbase will ever look at him like that somewhat again far into the future. Or will he never be a welcome sight around campus again?

From the sound of things, Frost felt kinda alienated by some almost from the get go. I'm sure he'll still visit friends in Lincoln, but I don't know if he'll be back around campus & the stadium much.

He had a decent amount of hate because of his involvement with the Lawrence Phillips incident.
Now that he drank his way through 5 years of losing without trying to do his job well I think the majority of people would prefer he just quietly fuck off for good

He's a legend who a lot of people knew was kind of a jerk at times, but he both paid his dues and won big as a player, so we were happy to not dwell on that.
All the losing wore away a lot of the goodwill, especially with him being less than professional. Even now, the bitterness is probably a lot higher on the forums and very-online segment than it is in random fans throughout the state.
It's pretty raw right now, and he'll never get back to the status he had, but if NU wins big again in the future, most people will probably let the grudge fade a lot, and remember him as a mixed bag, rather than just the bad that's fresh in our minds.
Not perfect analogies, but a little bit like Cubs fans were with Bartman, or Red Sox fans with Buckner after they eventually won titles.
