Another “this is who the current players really wanted” hire, following Michigan. Don’t know anything about those two guys, who may go on to wild success, but putting a lot of stock in what the current players want doesn’t seem the be the wisest hiring strategy. Such coaches may be popular for reasons that won’t help them become a successful head coach.

Seriously though if that’s true who wouldn’t want to be a coordinator for Matt?

I wonder how excited Rhule would have been to lose his DC just 6 weeks before spring practice.

I wonder if he is just that confident about Dvoracek as the replacement? Or Snow?

My guess is that he was really confident that he'd endear himself to White if he went dicks out to try to get him that job and that he believed the probability of White actually landing it wasn't all that high. The best thing for Rhule to keep White (or anyone on staff who is good) is to show them that he truly wants them to move up in the coaching world and he will do whatever it takes to help them get the right job. Pushing for the UCLA job shows White that if Rhule thinks it's a great opportunity he will push for him and that will hopefully mean that White will be selective in the opportunities he pursues

Agreed 100%.

Rhule has no other choice honestly. When you go the kingmaker route & say you're gonna help get guys HC jobs, you run the risk of this happening.
