Sure, but I think that you need to reduce the positive stats by 30% and increase the negative stats by 30%, and that might be a relatively good predictor of P4 stats. Going from D2 to P4 D1 is a significant jump.

30% seems a bit dramatic. While he would be making a huge jump in competition, the talent surrounding him would also equally increase.

I would be completely onboard with bringing in a guy like this and Minchey. That to me would be ideal (assuming that we are not wanting to spend the big money for a QB in the portal).

Why? Most of those you want to go realize that they are never going to start for a P4 school. But here they are, able to use the equipment, get some free meals, and be apart of the UNL football team. (And stand on the sidelines in Lincoln for every game.) Meanwhile they are getting a degree from a B10 school whose diplomas mean something. Under the new rules they aslo get some marginal benefits besides the ones that walk-ons used to get. Most aren't going to leave unless they are confident they can start somewhere else, and that the degree they will acquire will be as advantageous as the one from UNL.

Most of those kids don’t think about the degree. They want to play and get to the league. I even heard kids at UNK say I’m going to the league. A lot of them think they are way better than they are. Programs will find a way to get rid of dead weight. The only players who use to stick around when they knew they weren’t going to play was the walkons because it was their dream to put on a Husker Jersey and run out of the tunnel. That’s long gone.

I’m not even trying to figure out or follow all the possible paths to calculate how many available roster spots we will have come fall camp next year. And even if I did I’d probably be wrong anyway. It’s a fools errand. Let the people paid to do that shit handle that shit.

I don’t need any precise roster calculations to know we will be taking more than 6 portal players. No way Rhule is gonna say he needs more NIL money, then claim he got the money he wanted only to take less players in the portal than he did the previous year.

Maybe, but a lot of folks appreciated what Gronowski did this season and he was a 70% reduction in TDs and a 0% increase in interceptions over the mean. Average TD:INT at FCS was 13:3, at Cockeye it was 4:3.

I've seen this before on message boards. There is a subset of people who get really upset for some reason if you call a highlight video "film." They define "film" as video of a complete game and get really irritated by anyone else that doesn't go by that definition.

Pretty weird take/argument from these subset of people. It is a highlight tape but it’s sure as hell is still considered film. Doesn’t need to be an all 22 cut up to be called film😂 but hey we’re all entitled to our own opinion so to each his own.

It's not a subset on a message board, it's anyone who is involved in the game. I'm not bent out of shape about it, but I'm also not going to consider whether I would offer a kid based on a highlight package.

Honestly, I’m over all that shit. When I was in my 20’s and early 30’s I used to watch tape on every damn kid NU recruited and tons of players they weren’t recruiting. Probably watched highlight tape on nearly every top 100 player and a bunch of the top 250. Now…

I literally don’t watch any film, tape or highlights until they sign with Nebraska. And even then I know they’re highlight reels and I assume the competition they’re playing against is questionable and they’ll probably be a bust. 🤣

Long story short… I don’t have any fucks left for people who want to engage in some petty semantic battle. Film, tape, highlight reel…
