I don't watch any of it. The only time I watch(ed) film was to gameplan. I don't do that anymore, so not a lot of reason to watch any of them.Honestly, I’m over all that shit. When I was in my 20’s and early 30’s I used to watch tape on every damn kid NU recruited and tons of players they weren’t recruiting. Probably watched highlight tape on nearly every top 100 player and a bunch of the top 250. Now…
I literally don’t watch any film, tape or highlights until they sign with Nebraska. And even then I know they’re highlight reels and I assume the competition they’re playing against is questionable and they’ll probably be a bust. 🤣
Long story short… I don’t have any fucks left for people who want to engage in some petty semantic battle. Film, tape, highlight reel…

Nope — that's why I said that it goes both ways.So use the #1 pick in the NFL draft as the baseline comp for QBs moving up a level?
People dismissed this kid too quickly. My pick if we pulled one out of the portal assuming we're not in on Leavitt, Hoover, or Rocco Becht
- Cheap
- High upside
- Lightning fast processor
- Twitchy in the pocket
- Great vision as a runner
- Won games (Aidan Chiles ---)
- Mobile and stationary accuracy
- DOESNT TAKE SACKS
Cons
- Arm strength is leaves something to be desired
- Not a lot of anticipation on his tape, might be the offense idk
Comp: Pavia/Chambliss/Manziel with less arm strength
God damn - that’s a hard dose of reality.I can’t believe I’m about to put this in writing, but at this point I’d be happy to be Cockeye. If we had that level of success the money would be flowing in and we’d be looking to elevate to playoff status rather than where we are now.
At this point, I don't even care who they bring in at QB. It's not going to be someone who will be proven at the P4 level, so whatever. It's disappointing knowing that we aren't competing for top QBs, when it's obvious to me at least, that it's where we're most deficient. Not quite sure how to properly articulate the thoughts and disappointment in what I perceive to be the portal philosophy at QB.Nope — that's why I said that it goes both ways.
It's not as simple as saying drop his good plays by 30% and increase his bad ones by 30%. Like I said before, yes, his competition level is stepping up tremendously, but so is the talent supporting him. Then, what is he going to be asked to do vs what he is currently asked to do.
If we were only looking to add 1, starting QB in this portal, I wouldn't want to risk it on this kid. But since we will be taking 2-3, this kid is well worth the risk. In fact, I think pairing him with someone like Minchey is perfect. Minchey comes from a big time program with little to no game experience. Whereas McKenzie has a lot of starting experience, but at a much lower level. Both are risks, but their risks are literally the opposite of each other. Bring them both in and let all 3 (including Lateef) battle it out. Whoever wins that job would have my confidence to lead us in 2026.
Is Lincoln a dual threat? Is there any tape on the kid?If you could have Kleinholz or Minchy, why would you even consider Minchy. Lincoln has far more experience with a better offensive team.
I think backup QBs who’ve been at schools like Notre Dame and OSU for three years aren’t bad gambles especially if the QB battles were close. He has fewer snaps, but he has been developed in an FBS program for 3 years instead of one.
Right, wrong or indifferent, I think the strategy/thought process is that we have had "that guy" as our QB for the past 2 years and it hasn't resulted in a single extra win. I legitimately can't think of one game that Dylan won for us because he was just "that guy."At this point, I don't even care who they bring in at QB. I would agree with this if we were talking about QBs of the same style as Dylan. If the philosophy is changing, which I agree with, then why not try to get the most proven or at least a proven guy in that style at the P4 level?Right, wrong or indifferent, I think the strategy/thought process is that we have had "that guy" as our QB for the past 2 years and it hasn't resulted in a single extra win. Bring in a guy that isn't going to lose games for us and surround him with the talent to excel. That's how I see this playing out. We don't have the money of Texas Tech, but I think we want to build a roster like TT. And that means not spending $5 million on a QB...
