Yeah, I’m sure players will be sticking around when we tell them they’ll never see another minute of playing time or a practice rep again. The fact that you can’t actually cut them doesn’t mean that practically we can’t make room.
This plus no rev share or nil. However there is so much dead weight that would rather hang out for four years anyways. After four years I would think they could boot them.

a lot of the guys who are at the bottom end of the roster are not getting revenue share or even scholarships. so them leaving for any other program is financially equal, or better if they get a scholly at a smaller school
To begin with the University and the AD and the football program can have ZERO input on a players decision to leave, The settlement enshrines that right for the player.

Making bad recruiting decisions is now a FATAL issue for football programs, because if the player doesn't want to leave you are stuck with him till he graduates. (Or they do something that violates the University's ethic code.)

Most will leave if they are never going to play.

Why? Most of those you want to go realize that they are never going to start for a P4 school. But here they are, able to use the equipment, get some free meals, and be apart of the UNL football team. (And stand on the sidelines in Lincoln for every game.) Meanwhile they are getting a degree from a B10 school whose diplomas mean something. Under the new rules they aslo get some marginal benefits besides the ones that walk-ons used to get. Most aren't going to leave unless they are confident they can start somewhere else, and that the degree they will acquire will be as advantageous as the one from UNL.

Personally I think Nebraska is going to take the biggest portal class they have ever taken I'm thinking 15+. I think that was the plan all along with the small crooting class as well. That's what you have to do in this day and age, there is no reason to go into a season with a shaky position group.

We will have lot more attrition than we have had int he past as well to make room. And thats okay, keep the players that are developing and cut dead weight.

I believe Rhule already indicated this wasn't going to be a big portal class.

I guess I’m not seeing it as much different than when the big ten had 4 year guaranteed scholarships. We found ways to make room then and we’ll do it again.

You’ve got more adds to make than just 6 kids. And if we don’t add more than that it’s suicide.

in the new era of CFB the bag men are giving out McDonald's bags full of cash to convince players to NOT play for a school

The difference is that the roster limit includes every player on your roster whether scholarship or not (no distinction). That isn't the way it worked previously; only counting players who were selected for scholarships. In the old days (3 years ago) we'd put every guy who graduated early on a NIL deal that covered everything they needed. That way you could have guys who were in fact scholarship athletes, who were now "not on regulated scholarship limits".

Two years ago we had nearly 97 players on "scholarships" despite the limit being 85. We were doing exactly what everyone else was doing.

Win/loss record isn’t a QB stat. It’s a team stat. If you’re trolling I fell for it btw.
oops i did it again snl GIF by Saturday Night Live

See it doesn't work that way under the agreement. The entire grandfathering arrangement required by the FDC9 judge was to PROTECT players from that kind of action. They can only leave of their OWN volition and then it must be financially equivalent to their prior status.
The grandfathered kids do not count against the 105. It doesn't matter if they stay or leave. Their grandfathered status moves with them if they transfer.

We have to 'cut' non-grandfathered kids to make room.

We also don't know who they are.

Wrong. Just who do you propose are non-grandfathered players???? If they were on the roster at the time of the Settlement they are grandfathered ...... period. Once all these players are gone YOU MUST BE AT 105 and no more; forever. Now some conferences are talking about going with less than the 105, that's fine, but I think that is a prohibition on overall success for a program.

I guess I’m missing your point here. We will take more than 6 transfers. We will find ways to be under the limit. This is pretty much the bottom line.

Before you can assert that, you have to explain just how you are going to do that and remain within the rules of the Settlement. Hint; you can't.

Then we better break the rules bc this is essentially farm pro league not cfb anymore.
