TPB X thread

While I think Wandale was a good player... I don't think he makes a difference in any game this year unless he plays some RB.

I also think the best player we have had since Gregory was Jojo given he was an All American.
10 receptions for 170 yards wouldn't have made a difference for us against Cockeyes?

I can see the argument for JoJo though.

Gotta have consistency from your QB, something that hasn't happened at NU in quite some time

If a player as dynamic as him doesn’t impact any game for us this year then either the QB (ie means of getting him the ball) or play calling badly suck.

I would and do believe both

I think you likely don't have Toure. I also don't know if you have that with Smothers.

My thoughts are when did you look at a game and go we need more wr talent?

You likely don't have Toure if you have Wandale.

He is a good player but likely doesn't make a difference

Kind of a weird and confusing take.. the guy had 95 receptions and over 1k yards during the regular season, yet you don’t think he would make a difference in any game?
Think of how he could have been that relief valve, or opened things up more for Toure, and Allen.
Kentucky gave a master class in how to utilize a very skilled player.
He’s no world-beater, but he definitely has more than enough ability to impact the game, all he needs is someone competent to get him the ball.

I wouldn’t have trusted Frost and Lubbick to handle it right especially since the rb position was a shitshow. They would have probably had a bulked up Wandale running between the tackles too much.

Agreed.. he more than proved this year he could be excellent in the slot if only given the opportunity, but probably wouldn’t have gotten that at NU

He’a better than Toure. I’m not saying Wr was our greatest position of need on offense, but if Wandale doesn’t make your team better, you’re either very elite in terms of playmakers (which we aren’t) or you’re not using him right.

Why would you not have Toure? Even had Wan'Dale stayed, we still needed another starter at WR.

If we were as "close" as people like to say we were, then a player of Wan'Dale's caliber would've put us over the top in at least a few of the "close" losses.

The argument for many Husker fans was that Wandale made the wrong choice transferring to Kentucky because their offense sucked and they wouldn’t have a qb who could get the ball to him. I guess Stoops and co can coach. Who would have thunk it? To add to the embarrassment Wandale looked faster. Maybe Frost is wrong about us having the best strength and conditioning coach in the country too.

I've said I don't think he strengthens our weaknesses and I think you likely have to subtract Toure if you add Wandale.

That's why I don't think he makes a meaningful difference unless if he spends some time at RB similar to post Penn state.

Absolutely wrong about us having great s&c. Sounds like we're slowly getting away from "War Daddy" and increasing focus on speed and agility. Couple years too late, IMO.

Why did we not get another WR after Wandale left?

How does Wandale help RB? How does Wandale help OT? How does Wandale help special teams?
Did you think this year we need more talent at WR?

I honestly think most programs are similar on strength and conditioning, but Frost bragging about it all the time was laughable. It’s similar to when he would say we only recruit kids of high character and we know that hasn’t always been the case either.

Wan'Dale was basically the only non-AM player that scared other teams when he was here. Having him on the field helps the team as a whole when they have to gameplan for him.

We didn't get another WR because the coaching staff thought they were good to go with Liewer, Falck, Belt, etc once Toure was in the bag. They were wrong.

I'm not saying he isn't... I'm saying you likely don't have Toure... So what is your net gain?

I just don't think that net gain makes a big difference...

Yes, this team needed all the talent it could get/retain.
While I agree... I don't think the net gain you get from Wandale makes a difference.

He doesn't solve special teams... He doesn't solve OL problems... He doesn't solve lack of turnovers from the defense.... He doesn't solve lack of sacks.... He doesn't solve the questionable play calling at times..... Etc....

So you’re saying next year probably won’t be much better unless with get an infusion of talent in the portal?
