So I hate the idea of a podcast. Not because it’s a bad idea, but it’s a good idea oversaturated by everyone at one point.

Go on YouTube and search Husker podcasts. You find some good ones, but a lot with a low amount of views. But even Inside Nebraska Rivals and Husker Online have low amounts of views compared to other big names. Corn Crazed is another one, and he does alright.

But what I’m trying to get at, starting a podcast now is playing catch up. You need good recording software, an auto tuner, a hosting service (YT, Spotify, etc), and a good following base.
@Zack Carpenter maybe a joint podcast??? 🔥

Yeah but we are better than everyone else though
But seriously, I’ve been on a podcast or two as a speaker.

Starting a podcast these last few years is like the 2015-2020 of starting a blog.

Everything has a cycle nowadays. Once the podcast hype starts to die down, a new platform to jump on will come out.

Random idea that comes to mind for the podcast during the season is a gambling portion. @Faux Sean Callahan @Bootleg11 @Eaton Beaver and I as well as others post and talk about picks. Could add a segment along the lines of that
"Fade Bootleg" would be the name of it. Fucking can't make a pick to save my life right now.

So........hammer the 49ers because here is my parlay this week:
  • Deebo under 49.5 yards receiving
  • Eagles over 23.5 points
  • Purdy over .5 interceptions
  • 49ers over 1.5 successful field goals
  • Purdy under 215.5
  • Eagles -6.5
  • +2800
I'm gambling on the Eagles daring Purdy to beat them and it working out for the Eagles.

Disagree on this... content is king.

All you need is people who can carry on a conversation in a charismatic way, and good information. I don't listen to other pods not because they're not well-produced, but because it's like 95% randos giving the same kind of spiels you read in every message board post.

Put out a tight 30 minutes of original stuff in an entertaining way, and it'll spread grassroots like wildfire.

Keeping it short is huge. I don’t get the 2 hour weekly’s. Who has time for that ?

Fills the token tranny void too
new girl flirt GIF

@HuskerGarrett already is a world-renowned Tokker..
True. The next platform that will do well in the market will be an interactive one. I look at Twitch and YouTube content creators as a good pattern.

No one gives a crap about people playing games straight up or another creator releasing their top ten teams of 2023. They want the interaction with their favorite content creators. Viewers/listeners want to be able to ask questions or give their thoughts, which then the content creator will respond or answer.

I know that doesn’t make sense, but I think the market is going on that general direction: more interaction with with the listening base with their content.

I'd absolutely listen. I'd maybe even be interested in bullshitting on there Drinking Bros/round table style

Right, but who decides the content? Naturally, the answer is who the content creator is. But the content creator goes off of what the viewers want to listen to.

So I have two YouTube channels here: Corn Crazed (one individual who has a channel and a Discord server) and HuskerOnline (channel and a message board/journalism site). Corn Crazed has 17.1K followers and HuskerOnline has 32.4K followers.

Guess which one is Corn Crazed and which one is HuskerOnline.

Corn Crazed has more views for his video even though HOL has more subscribers. Why? Corn Crazed interacts with his subscribers more with live streams, by taking questions, calls, and even donations with messages. To my knowledge, HOL does not do that.

Viewers want to be heard. They want their stories, thoughts, and comments to be answered by the person(s) they follow.

This is inevitable but until a preferred alternative exists, podcast is the go-to for long-form discussion.
