Thinking about the White era, and wondering if the fact that the defense was good last year allowed Rhule to be complacent about the offense in the offseason.

If the defense had been more average, would he have been forced to address the Satterfield situation? The 2023 defense maybe created the impression that we were closer to getting over the hump than we actually were.

The team was so close to making a bowl and surpassing expectations, it was easy to stay the course. If we had only won 4, for example, there would have been more pressure to go back to the drawing board.
Did it allow him to be complacent on special teams too?

Shouldn’t have. I’m not saying he didn’t fuck up. I’m saying that the defense doing well minimized the external pressure to make changes, which it’s pretty apparent we should have made.

Sounds like NU is stepping up to the plate and offering TKnight more $ and responsibilities as first reported by @HuskerGarrett . We will finally see if NU has a bigger war chest than that of FSU as is rumored. It’s all over the FSU boards that we are in a financial “rock fight” to keep Knight. This would align with the rumors from other boards that we are upping our assistance coaches pool $ by a good amount

Where are you reading rumors of us upping our assistant $ pool?

It's ironic that WiscyDicks has since installed a garbage offense that Bo could probably stop. They've dumbed down their program that much for us.
It kind of reminds me how we went away from the option to a wco. Hopefully they suffer a lot of bad years now.

If we don’t have a bigger war chest than FSU we should have stayed in the Big 12.

That and this is big boy P5 football. You lose assistants, especially if they are good coaches.

Continuity is amazing but very rare anymore in P5 coaching staffs. People get hired and fired much more quickly which leads to the snowball effect of coaches moving, bringing their people with them, etc.

I'm sure Rhule has had a shortlist contingency plan in his back pocket for this.
Dannen will be HEAVILY involved with any staff hires, changes
