Things you forget about when you fire a HC..

But yea, I always feel sorry for the families that are impacted by these kind of things. The participants ... not so much. Just win, baby, and you keep your job.

Ya I agree. But he’s done well at SMU

And the Dykes name holds some weight
Some guys are just better suited for that league. I'm going to call it a different league because as much as people don't want to admit it, it's a different league.

I think I’d be more pissed if Duval ever left/got fired over Frost honestly
This is jmo but Frost has done a lot right but the most important....Win games....

I mean he has recruited well and filled up classes Has hit a few good walk ons. Has hit on a few good transfers. He has pushed out guys that were flops. Goes out and hires an elite nutrition and strength staff.

I mean win some fucking games

My biggest concern if Frost was fired is that Dave Ellis would likely not stick around anymore. I think having Turd would help, but he came back to work with Frost. Duval it probably wouldn't be the end of the world. I think he's done a good job, but I don't see him being any better than some of the other guys out there.

My thing with Duval, and the Husker Power program, and especially in the big 10, is it is huge for lineman. The same thing can’t he said of Riley and Pelini S&C. Talent and execution is another thing entirely, but our lines are atleast big and strong enough now. I only disagree with “don’t see him being Better than other guys out there” because not every strength coach goes by the same principles and rules, and that’s what makes me nervous if Frost were to ever not be here cause I don’t think Duval stays and I don’t think Ellis stays

I guess I don't know why Nebraska wouldn't be able to find someone just as good as Duvall. When have we played another B1G team and thought, wow they really aren't doing well in the weight room? Just seems like a lot of the principals needed to be a big and strong football team aren't that rare among good strength coaches anymore.

It’s not being “as good” it’s the principles that are important. Lineman in the big 10 need to be big and strong. Really anytime between like 2010 and probably 2019 we got absolutely abused by any big 10 team of significance and that is strictly S&C and Nutrition. We are big and strong enough as of last year to meet and exceed that force.

So you can look at different conferences and see the differences. Main example, there was a special on the OU DLine back in 2018 or 2019. Long story short, they were leaning out their lineman some and making them more mobile and better conditioned cardio wise to be able to handle spread offenses better for the duration of a game. It was a DLineman that was being interviewed at the time. That doesn’t work in the big 10

If you can do it I’ll gladly eat shit but I don’t think you can point to any upper echelon BIG team and say “yeah, their lineman are smaller and they’re still really good in this conference”.

Again, I think the principals are common. Nebraska just had two head coaches in the past that never adapted to playing in the B1G. That includes telling their S&C coaches to focus on making guys bigger and stronger instead of leaner and quicker.

All I’m saying is Duval and Dave have made up that space, and you never know with a new hire. Could think differently and ruin all that progress. Seems to be “The Nebraska Way” to not want to adapt to the BIG at this point

I would hope Turd is smart enough to hire a head coach that knows what it takes to win in the B1G.

I would say Justin Wilcox has done about as good of a job as you could ask. I'm surprised he hasn't been mentioned for more openings.
I saw him mentioned for Washington but ya you’re right. He was a hotter commodity 2 or 3 years ago

He had an inevitable down year at Cal and his name became less popular. He's not a hire that many fanbases would probably like or appreciate enough.
