Mine was more sheltered without the privilege. And....knowing no different that my parents lived paycheck to paycheck for years. I always had everything I needed/wanted. Never thought I'd be where I'm at -- which really is just a normal dude that lives in West Omaha and makes more than the average American.I'm starting to realize I've led an incredibly sheltered (and privileged) life. And I'm grateful AF for that.
that shits scary. When I lived in Chicago I came home late at night from Managing the restaurant Carmines on Rush to find my condo complex surrounded by cop cars, ambulances, fire trucks, Swat..... This was on Lake Shore Drive in the Gold Coast too. I walk up in my trench coat wearing a suit at 3 am and all of the cops think I'm a Police Detective. I ask them what is going on and they are giving me the run down as they think I'm a cop. Then a couple of them realized who I was. All cops ate for free at Carmines so they knew me and let me hang out kinda behind the scenes with them. They figured everyone else would just think I was a detective.
Turns out some dude beat the living crap out of his girlfriend and was holed up in his condo making threats he was gonna kill her and himself. Had a knife to her throat. Threatening to jump himself or throw her out the window. Stood outside for a couple hours talking with the cops looking up at his window to see if he was gonna jump or throw her out. He knocked the screens out of some of the windows so at that point we backed up a little bit. I was even walking around outside the building looking for a dog with the cops as it was rumored he threw her dog out the 6th floor window. Luckily Fiddo was safe as he was eventually found cowering under the bed.
After a couple hour stand off he finally surrendered which I appreciated because it was late and I was getting tired but didn't want to miss the action. Girl luckily lived and hopefully he's still behind bars.
I think she is on her 3rd husband. Married a heavy drinking chef Joe Farina and opened a restaurant. The 2nd ex-husbands got jail time for a while. The 1st one took the brunt of the heat for the dead drug dealer, that she was having an affair with. She has 2 kids 1 with each of her first 2 husbands. One kid probably around 30 years old was rumored to be a junkie. Not sure on the other one. Here is the 1990 Chicago Tribune article about the drug dealer murder. Her name is Yvonne Burke in this. Later was Yvonne Contreras. Now Yvonne Farina that is probably in high school now. Who knows what is going on with her now. Been over a decade since I had to deal with her. Wouldn't surprise me if she was running drugs or dirty money through the restaurant. We saw lots of strange numbers and invoices over the years that made one believe some shenanigans were going on.She single?
I definitely don't miss my days living in an apartment complex ... reminds me how much I hate being around general population
SantaBarbara sightingNo doubt… And when you moved in, they all smelled the same…like the carpet powder deodorizer landlords, throw on there to try to cover up former tenant stank. I realize many don’t have any other choice, but the majority of apartments are disgusting.
.
Scary out there. You couldn’t pay me enough to live west of 204th street
As George Mikan of the Minneapolis Lakers once opined, "The harder I work, the luckier I seem to get".You know this because I met you, but privilege is often just busting your ass.
470 miles west of 204th is paradise in case you hadn’t heard……..😎🦩🌴You couldn’t pay me enough to live west of 204th street
Bennington > Chicago (or so I’ve heard)I'm starting to realize I've led an incredibly sheltered (and privileged) life. And I'm grateful AF for that.
