Her music is mostly terrible too. Singing "all the single ladies" over and over isn't music.

Just generally disagree on the energy point, but YMMV. I think you can make a legit criticism on a just play the hits point, but obv not what he was going for, which is a flex IMO.

When some rock artist goes out and gives a mediocre halftime show (as has happened many times), you don't hear rock fans jumping in and yelling for days that anyone who criticizes doesn't understand rock music or the performer's history or whatever.

I'm a big equality guy - rappers can suck too - and Kendrick was pretty meh. If you liked it, good for you, but it wasn't a broadly entertaining or particularly notable performance.
