Stewart Mandel now projecting Huskers in CFP bracket

NU gave up 24 points in the 4th quarter to CU in 2019. Distinctly remember frost celebrating and looking smug on the sidelines in the second half like it was over.

Stupid coaching could’ve made that a game last night. Would anyone have trusted Frost with that lead?

This staff was very careful not to do anything stupid to let it become a game. They made CU have to do something on their own to beat us, knowing they couldn’t, instead of helping them out.

Totally fine with that approach. It wasn’t exciting but it was ego-free and focused on making sure we got the W.

This.

Plus the reffing cost us 14 pts

that comes from coaching in the nfl, you quit worrying about style points & start focusing on winning football games

The kicking game is absolutely going to cost us a game this year.

I saw no issues with the 2H playcalling though. The goal was to leave with a win with minimal injuries. Also there was 200-250 yards in offense that half called back on penalties, much of which was just awful calls.

TBF Rhule said the coaches felt the game was over at HT bc they didn't believe CU could score on their 1st team D. And it was 28-0 at home.

If some of those long plays went it is 35-10 or 42-10 and everyone's happy. But that would have been the same game in the end.
This is the level headed take.

I consider - and honestly from how Rhule discussed the penalties post game I think they feel - this to have been a 42-10 game. I do not see the "plays are terrible" argument whatsoever. I think we have a great balance of ball control, efficient offense that will splash when it's needed. We really are showing we are Baylor's offense when Rhule was there. I am so pleased with that.

Satt didn't bother me Saturday. Get the fucking win. Had we not been penalized on every play of note in the second half we'd have had 250 yds rushing and probably 14 additional pts min.

If we were playing a better team he'd be calling different plays. We knew Colorado couldn't do shit on offense and we were trying to salt the clock.

🤷‍♂️

This is the correct take. The only correct take actually.

Im guessing some of our fans knew we were capable of hanging 40+ on CU, really wanted to see us do it and just got frustrated at Satt for not feeding their desire to humiliate the buffs.
Think they just need to realize that's exactly what he did, the players just didn't execute.

Lost a score on Benhart's hold
Lost an RJ score on a Scott's hold

That's 42 total pts in the 3rd/4th Qtr. Has nothing to do with Satt.

Then add all the yardage that was called back

Pretty disappointing execution.

I learned my lesson: never confuse lack of player execution and coaching incompetence. We all lived through the Frost years.

I’m not saying Satt is incompetent…yet…but lack of execution tends to have a lack of quality coaching behind it.

If the lesson learned generalizes something to the point you're comparing Frost's program to Rhule's in order to satisfy your bias then you're being lazy.

I think Frost showed a clear track record after 5 years. I don't think the jury is close to in on Satt and incompetent coaching doesn't fit the bill for Rhule.

Rhule commented on this yesterday. Guys being selfish because they're afraid of getting beat. If that mindset isn't fixed then I would agree that the coaching is the problem.

I think I can point out a lack of execution and and uninspired play calling for a half and not be accused of being lazy.

Call me a beaten down Nebraska fan but I wanted to see more in the second half. Truly atrocious refereeing aside I though we left too much in the table.

Rhule is definitely not a bad coach - he’s a goddamn good one - but the jury in Satt is still out. The same criticisms were levied against Satt while he was at SC so there’s some precedent there.

I think it’s a lazy thought process in general and not actually in line with what we saw in the game or what Rhule said about what he saw.

I think that’s a pretty chill observation.
