Stewart Mandel now projecting Huskers in CFP bracket

Respectfully, I disagree (unless we can somehow fix the kicking game and Satt pulls his head out of his ass)
Yup I agree with you. The offensive play calling went conservative in the second half even with the refs calling EVERY ticky tack little thing. Thankfully the defense kept very aggressively attacking but if we try to do that against a better team it would bite us in the ass. Needed to keep our foot on the gas through the 3rd quarter.

Defense is outstanding
Offense is average
Special teams is

I'd love to be wrong but doesn't look like a playoff team to me

Satt’s play calling in general:

1st Down: Direct handoff for 0-2 yards
2nd Down: Short pass to left or right for 0-2 yards
3rd Down: Downfield pass that likely falls incomplete
4th Down: Punt

Meh I didn’t have too much of an issue with Sats playcalling last night.
They had 3 drives where first downs were called back in the 2nd half that killed them.
There were good plays called, and between poor execution and bad calls it didn’t happen.
Wr’s and hb’s need to work on how to block.

Love Raiola, but he missed a few balls he should have made in half 2 as well. But that will come with experience.

Finally props to Colorados D in the 2nd half. They made adjustments and got to Raiola a few times. The played well.

I also think Rhule and sat coached scared in half 2 on offense. They are a little traumatized from last season and wanted to mitigate any risk for turnovers. Last year Nebraska would have lost that game with a couple turnovers

TBF Rhule said the coaches felt the game was over at HT bc they didn't believe CU could score on their 1st team D. And it was 28-0 at home.

If some of those long plays went it is 35-10 or 42-10 and everyone's happy. But that would have been the same game in the end.

Agreed.
At the end I don’t know if there’s more the offense hasn’t shown yet. But if there is there was no reason to show it last night.

Offense is definitely improved and not turning it over. That’s worth everything right now.

Here's the other super hot take - I actually think Colorado IS better this year. That got lost in all the show last night.

CU played a road game AT a 9-3 B1G team. That is supposed to be hard! A lot of CU fans are disgusted with their own team bc in their minds they think NU is a 4-8 team that shits its own pants. But if they played a road game at any other top 4-5 B1G team they'd be like "that's a tough assignment, etc"

So my hot take is that CU is actually very good in the secondary and Rhule had not need to test them (and risk DR getting a couple INTs).

I do think you'll see a lot more deep balls vs UNI, Illinois, Buttgers, Indianus. I actually think CU is a legit good D against the pass. I think that will show this yr if their team doesn't implode (which they might).

I think the coaches knew the only way Colorado could get back in the game with any momentum/quiet the stadium was an interception. They wisely chose to eat clock and let the defense and the crowd do the rest.

how many big plays did we get called back? i didnt see any reason to get cute and risk turnover and let colorado back in the game especially when our D was playing so damn good

The 292 passing yard that Colorado gave up to NDSU doesn't support that. They've got some decent players, but the LBs and insistence on playing man will get them burned in the air.

Yeah, a lot of the calls would have looked better minus penalties and some execution errors but the fact is that Star’s play calling strategy had no rhyme or reason to it. There are easy throws that he could call to get Raiola in a rhythm or build runs into some play action but he didn’t do even that.

There’s a reason why South Carolina fans weren’t sad to see him go.
